Yasmin Le Bon credits mutual understanding for marriage success

Yasmin Le BonSupermodel Yasmin Le Bon says her showbiz marriage with Duran Duran’s lead singer has lasted for more than two decades because of similarities in the music and fashion worlds they live in.
“I think part of why it’s (the marriage) worked is that we understand each other’s businesses so completely. They’re so similar,” Le Bon was quoted in the July issue of Prestige Hong Kong.
“And especially, actually, marrying into Duran Duran. I mean if any band was going to understand the fashion business, it was going to be these guys. They really understand it and embrace it.”
She married Simon Le Bon in 1985, when Duran Duran was one of the world’s hottest groups. The dashing British quintet was the quintessential ’80s pop band, with huge hits like Hungry Like the Wolf and Girls on Film. They were at the forefront of the music video age and were famous for their innovative and exotic clips.
Yasmin Le Bon, 41, was born in Oxford, England, and began modelling in 1984 and has worked for Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Chanel and Christian Dior.

Ontario’s Tenika eliminated from “Canada’s Next Top Model”

Tenika, CNTMTenika, a student from Newmarket, Ontario became the fifth girl eliminated on Citytv’s “Canada’s Next Top Model”, reducing the pool from six girls to five.
In the fifth episode, the girls find themselves made up with muted faces and bold eyebrows for a photo shoot with a falcon. The theme is “Lady of the Manor” and is shot in a very strong, editorial style. Sisi uses her typical quirkiness, while Ylenia’s figure emphasizes her look as a Gothic matron.
Alanna uses the judges suggestion from last week and focuses on looking straight at the camera rather than profile shots. Andrea manages to give a variety of poses without moving at all and Brandi’s overt sexuality is artfully downplayed. Tenika notices that the photographer encourages the other girls, while he’s less enthusiastic with her. She shrugs this off as a different approach. Back at the mansion the catfight is on, as Sisi is just a bit annoyed with Tenika for blow-drying her hair at 1:00 am.
The next morning, when Sisi confronts her, Tenika blows up, yelling and swearing - going beyond her anger about the incident. Sisi is dumbfounded and tries to defend her position by saying that others were also annoyed, but no one backs her up.The next day, the girls face media boot camp with Judge, Jeanne Beker and former New York Times journalist and Guest Judge Michael Gross. He tears through the girls one by one, giving his most honest opinions. He and Jeanne both think Tenika just wants to be famous. Michael thinks Sisi has “already been around the block” and Andrea just wants to get back at the kids who made fun of her in high school. Brandi lies to them saying everything is fine in the house, but Michael loves Ylenia and thinks she will be a superstar. In the end, Sisi wins the Jeanne’s portion of the challenge and Ylenia wins Michael’s.
During the fifth elimination ceremony, the judging test is a follow up interview with Michael Gross, this time with tougher questions. Tenika breaks under the pressure, admitting she doesn’t know much about modelling but she is trying to learn.
Unfortunately, the judges think it’s too late and Tenika is eliminated. Her photos are not improving and her personality doesn’t sit well with any of the judges.
Coming up in Episode Six next Wednesday, the truth of the camera is exposed, as the truest beauty is revealed.
Canada’s Next Top Model will walk away with a $100,000 beauty contract from Procter & Gamble. The winner will receive a modeling contract with top agency, Sutherland Models and be featured in an editorial spread in Fashion Magazine.
Episode Six of “Canada’s Next Top Model” airs Wednesday, July 5th at 8:00pm (7:00pm CT) on Canada’s Citytv.

Kate Moss to return to rehab

Kate MossSupermodel Kate Moss is currently looking into returning to a rehab centre in a bid to sort herself once and for all.
After a cocaine scandal last year that threatened to destroy her career, Moss headed to Arizona for rehab and left intact and with advertisers and fashion houses gagging for her back. However, it seems that Moss is still not on top form and is spending her days weeping over her recent troubles and is now seeking professional help.
A friend of the model’s told the Daily Star: “She felt amazing after she left rehab in Arizona six months ago. But now she feels her life has gone back to how it was before she met Pete.
“She’s out partying and drinking all the time and she thinks everyone’s watching, just waiting for her to mess up.
“So she spends days just crying because she hates her life. Kate has amazing days and black days but she needs to find a balance.
“She wants to collect her thoughts in rehab away from the public’s scrutiny. What she needs right now is an escape from being Kate Moss.”
It must be terribly hard work…

Naomi Campbell faces fresh assault claim

Naomi Campbell | MRTFacing up to seven years in jail over accusations of throwing a jewel-encrusted mobile phone at her maid, it was the last news Naomi Campbell needed.
But as the supermodel appeared in court yesterday, she was threatened by further allegations of violent behaviour.
Her former housekeeper Gaby Gibson has accused the 35-year-old of ‘personal injuries’, ‘employment discrimination’, ‘civil assault’, ‘civil battery’ and other complaints.
News of the latest lawsuit comes as Miss Campbell’s lawyers are said to be considering a plea bargain over the charges brought by her ex-maid Ana Scolavino.
The model has pleaded not guilty to assaulting Miss Scolavino at her New York penthouse apartment in March, after she is said to have accused the maid of stealing a pair of her GBP110 designer jeans.
She allegedly threw her jewel- studded BlackBerry mobile phone at Miss Scolavino in a fit of rage, leaving her needing four stitches. Miss Campbell is also accused of instructing her staff to tell police that the 42-year-old had fallen over and hurt herself.
The 36-year-old model, who wore four-inch heels and a short black dress, did not speak during the five-minute hearing at Manhattan’s Criminal Court.
She has always denied attacking the maid, calling the allegations ‘completely untrue’.
At the time of her arrest, she said in a statement: ‘She is sadly mistaken if she thinks she can extract money from me by concocting lies by recycling old stories,’ She refused to make any comment as she left the courthouse.
If she escapes jail, Miss Campbell could still face civil action by Miss Scolavino.‘We will be handling any civil case after we know what is happening with the criminal case,’ a spokesman for the maid’s lawyers said yesterday.
It is not the first time that Miss Campbell has faced claims of this sort.
Last August, actress Yvonne Scio threatened to sue the supermodel, previously a friend, after claimingshe was ‘punched and kicked’ in a Rome hotel. Miss Campbell was allegedly annoyed that the actress was wearing a dress similar to one she planned to wear to a party that evening.
In August 2004, the supermodel admitted having a catfight with her then housekeeper Millicent Burton, in which both women ended up brawling on the floor.
A few months earlier, secretary Simone Craig sued for emotional distress after claiming Miss Campbell had grabbed her by her hair in a Beverley Hills Hotel.
And in 2000, the model pleaded guilty to an assault claim made by former assistant Georgina Galanis, who alleged she hit her over the head with a mobile phone.
Miss Campbell’s lawyers secured a deal which saw her discharged without a criminal record after expressing remorse.
In 2002, she revealed she had been attending anger management therapy to try to control her temper.
The case brought by Miss Scolavino has been adjourned until September.

Plea bargain possible in Naomi Campbell assault case

Naomi Campbell | Fox | AssociatedPressSupermodel Naomi Campbell appeared in a Manhattan courtroom Tuesday where prosecutors said a plea bargain was possible in her cell phone assault case. She did not speak during the brief proceeding.
The real action came outside the lower Manhattan courthouse, where some 50 photographers and camera crews waited for a shot of the 36-year old supermodel after her appearance before Criminal Court Judge Evelyn Laporte.
Campbell, attorney David Breitbart and Campbell’s small retinue were forced to hide inside the courthouse for about five minutes until a car arrived to take them away from the media horde.
When Campbell’s case was called, prosecutor Shanda Strain told the judge that no grand jury action had been taken in the case. The defense then agreed to an adjournment pending a possible plea deal, and Laporte ordered everyone to return to court on September 27.
Campbell, wearing a tight black dress with 4-inch heels, her long hair flowing down the length of her back, was silent in the courtroom. She was arrested March 31 for allegedly throwing a cell phone at one of her employees in a dispute over a missing pair of jeans.
She has called the allegations “completely untrue.” But the housekeeper, Ana Scolavino, was treated at Lenox Hill Hospital for an injury to the back of her head after the incident.
The volatile Campbell has a history of problems with her employees. In 2003, she was sued by a former administrative assistant who said Campbell had thrown a phone at her during a tantrum two years earlier.
In August 2004, in the same apartment, Campbell and her maid battled it out, with the worker claiming the supermodel slapped her across the face. Campbell accused maid Millicent Burton of instigating the fight.
On Monday, in Manhattan’s state Supreme Court, another maid, Gaby Gibson, filed a lawsuit accusing Campbell of “personal injuries,” “employment discrimination,” “civil assault,” “civil battery” and other complaints.
The court document does not detail alleged acts by Campbell, but in a published interview in April, Gibson said the catwalker hit her on Jan. 17, called her names and threatened to have her arrested. Gibson told the New York Post that Campbell got upset after being unable to find a specific pair of jeans.

News snippets: Gisele Bundchen

The pair had been dating for eight months and both are reportedly taking the split hard.According to American publication In Touch, Slater, who has also dated Pamela Anderson, was so distraught over the split he skipped the June 12 premiere of his new film “Letting Go.”

Gisele has been giving workers on a New York construction site an early morning thrill by working out in skimpy yoga attire in front of them.
The sexy Brazilian felt sure the burly builders couldn’t see into her apartment — but she discovered she was mistaken when they started waving at her.
She explains, “I kept telling my assistant that we needed to put something up, because they could see in my apartment, but she said, ‘Don’t worry about it — you have special blinds where you can see out, but they can’t see in.’”
The supermodel continued to stretch and practice yoga in skimpy outfits every morning in her living room. She adds, “I’m stretching in my shorts and I see a guy looking at me, but my assistant said he couldn’t see me, so I continued.
“I left and came back home and there were more guys looking into my apartment. I decided to wave (to see if they could see) and they all waved back. “They could see me the entire time! I could have killed her (assistant)!”

Further, Gisele is taking over Uma Thurman’s role as the face of luxury goods label Louis Vuitton. Actress Thurman has represented the French fashion house for two seasons, but Louis Vuitton designer Marc Jacobs believes the company needs to use professional models again.
Jacobs explains, “We just wanted a fashion icon more than the celebrity thing”. “I certainly feel Gisele is iconic and recognized all over the world as Gisele. Also, the clothes were hot and sexy and colorful, and we thought she would exaggerate the strength and the heat of the collection.”
Previous faces of Louis Vuitton include Jennifer Lopez, Scarlett Johansson, Christina Ricci and Chloe Sevigny.
