Is Milla Jovovich’s name harming her career?

Milla JovovichSupermodel Milla Jovovich is convinced that her name has caused her to lose acting parts.
In an interview with ContactMusic, the former supermodel revealed that she thinks directors only cast her as superheroes because of her unusual name and looks. The Resident Evil star, 30, was born in Kiev in the former U.S.S.R.  Milla said, “My name has screwed me up more than my looks.  It makes Americans go, ‘Oh, she’s foreign, so she has to be an alien or a superhero.’  I’m sure if my name was something anonymous like Melissa Gillheart it would be fine.”

Canada’s Next Top Model full of firsts

CNTMThe first episode of Canada’s Next Top Model began last night with the 10 hopefuls taking an executive jet to a B.C. mountain resort. One of the girls reveals that, at 19, it’s the first time she’s ever been on a plane; another says that stylist Jay Manuel is the first celebrity she’s ever seen.
He lines them up for Polaroids, and there’s a walk-off down a wooden deck. The winner, Heather, chooses the worst walker, awkward Andrea, to be her roommate.
Host Tricia Helfer takes them to dinner in Victoria, where a girl says she’s never been in a horse-drawn carriage before. Sitting down for dinner, you’re waiting for one of them to say that she’s never used a knife and fork.

Tricia HelferA model scout says that he was watching the walk-off, and that his pick was Heather as well, which goes over like a bean fart. At the photo shoot, another model agency dude says that three of the girls have to “work on their measurements”, a euphemism for monster lard-ass, one assumes.
Andrea says that she’s competing for revenge, that she was called “the beast” growing up. Jay tells her she’s beautiful, and she tearfully says no one’s ever told her that; so far, the show is doing nothing to dispel the myth that modelling exploits insecurities.
At the final judging, Tanika gets dressed down for walking around topless on the set — we are so in Canada, people. Alanna from Kelowna has the worst photo, but Sylvie is booted, apparently for going casual and being rude when she was called on it. This really is Canada’s Next Top Model.

Gail Porter brands Kate Moss as ’sick’

Gail PorterAlopecia sufferer and TV presenter Gail Porter has branded supermodel Kate Moss “sick” for taking cocaine while raising her three year old daughter. Kate was pictured allegedly snorting cocaine last year while in a recording studio with her ex-junkie boyfriend Babyshambles front man Pete Doherty. Porter was captured ranting about Moss during a new BBC 1 documentary about her battle with alopecia. Gail said of Moss: “If Kate Moss was ‘Tracey Towerblock’, she’d be behind bars. If you and me were doing that, acting like her and Pete Doherty, we’d be arrested within days. “Now that she’s been pictured ding drugs, her earning power has really gone up by millions, which is really sick. What sort of ideals are those to give to kids?”

Keira Knightley and Jamie DornanIrish model Jamie Dornan has laughed off reports he has been romancing Kate Moss, Sienna Miller and Lindsay Lohan - insisting there is “no truth” to any of the rumours. Dornan has been the centre of relentless speculation regarding his love life since splitting up with Keira Knightley last year, but he admits the whispers are news to him.
He says, “I’ve obviously met Kate but there’s no romantic link between us. “I’ve met Sienna and we share the same agent but, again, there’s no romance between us. “Have I really been linked to all those people? I think that’s hilarious. “There’s no truth to any of them.”
