Who is the body? Elle or Heidi?

The Body - Elle Macpherson“The Body” Elle Macpherson has accused fellow supermodel Heidi Klum of stealing her nickname, after the German catwalk queen called herself “The Body” in a television commercial. Australian Macpherson has used the moniker since it was employed to describe her in a Time magazine cover story in 1986. So she was baffled by the ad for Victoria’s Secret’s The Body bra, in which Klum claims, “They call me The Body - and now I have a bra named after me.” Melissa Edwards, spokesperson for Macpherson’s underwear company Elle Macpherson Intimates, tells the New York Daily News, “We saw that and were like, ‘Oh my god!’ We were initially flabbergasted. “We have numerous press clippings in the office referring to her as ‘The Body’. Everything from Harper’s Bazaar to Vogue to the recent Sports Illustrated calls her that. In terms of public record, that name belongs to Elle.” The 43-year-old Aussie is particularly riled because she uses her moniker on a range of products, including skin-care line Elle Macpherson The Body, her lingerie brand and a fitness video.

Heidi Klum designs new Victoria Secret bra…

Heidi Klum - Victoria SecretTopmodel Heidi Klum’s next project will be designing a line of bras for women. The line of bras will be named after Klum’s own nickname in the modeling world, “The Body” and will be sold at Victoria’s Secret. This is the new Victoria Secret bra they just came out with and they called it ‘The Body,’ which was one of my nicknames that I started having when I started work with Victoria’s Secret, which was a huge honor for me,” Klum told CBS’ “The Early Show. Klum has also filmed a television ad for the bra, where she tells the audience how she got the nickname. She says filming the commercial was very “fun.”
Klum, who is pregnant with her third child, says the ad was filmed while she was preganant, but the camera was able to be placed in a way that her pregnancy could not be noticed.
“This is probably one bra that every woman wants to have because it is so comfortable. It comes eight different colors, it has no seams, no stitches. It is not the super sexy, lacy bra, but this is something functional that you want to have every day that is super comfortable and just great,” she says.

Pete Doherty angers band mates with Kate Moss invite

Pete DohertyBabyshambles frontman has come under fire from his band mates for insisting that his on/off girlfriend Kate Moss joins them in Ibiza. The couple were spotted together last weekend and Doherty is making the most of his born again celebrity status by taking her to the Ibiza Rocks Festival.
A source told the Star: “It is vaguely starting to come together again for Pete and Babyshambles as a band. The spotlight’s been off them largely due to him not being with Kate for a long time.
“It means the vast majority of people lose interest in him, because their fanbase isn’t very big, musically. “But Pete’s asked Kate is she wants to come out for a gig on Monday and it’s annoyed a few in the band.” One band member commented: “This is supposed to be a fucking serious gig, not a beach holiday for a pair of posers.” Is this the beginning if a new chapter in this car crash relationship? Lets hope so.

Is Kate Moss engaged?

Kate's suspicious ringIt’s only been two minutes (over-exaggerators, we?) since Kate Moss was rumoured to have got back with Pete Doherty. But does this ring confirm their commitment? Possibly. Or possibly not.
The supermodel was spotted with the new piece of jewellery on her wedding finger at a music festival. That being a music festival she just happened to be attending with Pete…
Of course, Kate has neither confirmed nor denied what the ring means - so it could just be the start of a new fashion craze (think military jackets or those pumps she spread far and wide). Still, there’s no harm in taking a closer look in the gallery above, is there?

Heartwarming story: fulltime-junkie and Kate Moss are back together…

Kate Moss caught nude last summerBritish supermodel Kate Moss has apparently gone completely insane and reconciled with Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty after dumping him late last year when he walked out of a rehabilitation centre that she was paying for.
According to the U.K.’s Mirror newspaper, the 32-year-old Moss has told friends that she’s “overjoyed” to be back with her junkie partner and hopes that they’ll now stay together as he tries to kick his numerous drug habits. The couple arrived together in a chauffeur-driven Range Rover at Britain’s Rhythm Festival at 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, according to an unnamed onlooker.
“They got out of the car and held hands as they walked to the VIP area — laughing and touching each other the whole time. They were acting like a couple of honeymooners.”
Moss and Doherty, 27, met backstage with Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer Jerry Lee Lewis — who has a long history of substance abuse and women problems — though it’s not known if “The Killer” passed on any of his wisdom to the “clean-cut and coherent” rocker, who’s currently without a record label.
Doherty also spent time at the festival with Pogues frontman Shane McGowan, another notorious drinker and drug abuser, and was apparently overheard telling him that he felt “amazing” after a recent rehab stint and “couldn’t believe his luck” at having Moss back in his life. While the former Libertines member has much better teeth than McGowan, Moss allegedly still seemed anxious not to be photographed with him before they left the event at 9:30 p.m.
Moss has a five-year-old daughter named Lila Grace from a previous relationship with magazine publisher Jefferson Hack, and it’s said that she didn’t want the youngster in contact with Doherty or his ring of junkie friends, which drove a wedge between the pair despite their unlikely attraction. “Kate never fell out of love with him,” an unnamed close friend told the Mirror.
“She told him she would only ever go back with him if he turned his life around once and for all. Now she is convinced he is serious about quitting drugs and they are falling in love all over again.”
Doherty recently had an implant surgically embedded in his body to help wean him off his dependence on smack.

Why Kate Moss still wears her crown…

Queen Kate Moss I.Despite being embroiled in a drug scandal, the model still defies her critics, writes Alexandra Shulman.
One of the perks of being an editor is that you can ban the words you most dislike from your publication.
At Vogue, top of my list is the word “iconic.” Iconic is used so often nowadays that it has simply come to mean “recognizable.” It has nothing to do with the fact that an icon should represent something more than the sum of its parts. In the world in which I work, people are capable of calling a handbag “iconic!”
However, there is one exception to my rule - and that is when the word is applied to Kate Moss. She is one of the few women alive today who I think is a contemporary icon. And, like all icons, she sits up there as a target waiting to be shot down.
She’s had her face and body splashed all over the media for at least 15 years and she’s become richer and richer, more famous and infamous. Her habits and her wardrobe have provided ripe pickings for style observers the world over.
She’s held up as both a role model and a wild child; a global superstar who still maintains some of the qualities of the waif from Croydon.
The recent mutterings over whether Moss’ influence is beginning to fade are only another example of her power and fame. For instance, how often does a national newspaper devote four pages to the clothes of one woman, as one did last week, posing the question: “Has Kate Moss lost her sense of style?”
And how often are the front pages of Sunday papers given over to what a model is wearing at a wedding?Vogue’s September issue has its cover, yet again, given over to Moss. I don’t do this because she’s a friend of mine but because, as a model and a personality, Kate Moss sells. Indeed, in the last year, two out of the three best-selling issues featured Moss on the cover (the third was Sienna Miller).
Since these issues all achieved record sales, whoever it is who thinks Moss is losing her edge certainly isn’t the person buying Vogue.
Kate Moss is an image - someone we observe and comment on but who remains silent. Her talent is to look wonderful but also to invest the clothes she wears with a unique panache. Whenever she wears something either in a professional capacity - where a designer or fashion editor has decided how she will look - or in her own time, it is imbued with a confident insouciance that is in itself a definition of style.
She might sport a trilby and string tie, a mini-dress and waistcoat, a prom dress or, as at the wedding of her friends Katy England and Bobby Gillespie, a pair of tiny shorts and tailored jacket - but whatever it is, she looks great.
In the forthcoming issue of Vogue, she’s posing in a Jil Sander black trouser suit, unadorned by accessories. The image is intended to convey a message about the trend of androgynous chic and the move in the direction of tailoring. I can’t think of another model who I would have felt so confident in putting on the cover in such an austere outfit.
But I know that Kate, with her heavy-lidded, contemptuous gaze, her parted lips that rarely speak, and a gamine, wide-legged stance, will have a unique presence on the news-stand.
If you look at the clothes that she has been favoring recently, they are heavily rock chic in mode and presumably owe something to her fondness for classic bad-boy types. However, by adopting little shorts, ties, waistcoats and hats, she is once again in the eye of the fashion storm - just look at the autumn collections from Stella McCartney, Chloe, Prada, Balenciaga, Rochas.
Women whose style becomes iconic - Jackie Kennedy, Coco Chanel, Katharine Hepburn, and even the Queen - don’t change their look from season to season. They’ve worked out what looks best and they stick to it, adapting it to the times but never becoming a victim of fashion.
Kate Moss knows that her tousled hair and skinny legs are part of her trademark hence the mini-skirts, shorts and skinny jeans.
In an era where the accessories rule, she also knows that the right handbag does more for your look than just carry your lipstick.
Black has always been one of her favourite colors. This very repetition reinforces the style - no wonder, then, that Moss has been included in the Best Dressed Hall of Fame in next month’s issue of Vanity Fair, alongside Marlene Dietrich and Audrey Hepburn. She pulled in more than half the votes in the women’s category.
When the “Cocaine Kate” drug scandal hit the headlines late last year, the immediate response was that Moss was finished. Newspapers rushed to report the cancellation of lucrative contracts and the police investigations. A year on, she’s never been more in demand, even though she’s a good 10 years older than many of the other top models including Gemma Ward and Daria Werbowy (and how many of you would recognize them?). If that’s what you get for losing your sense of style, I for one would like a piece of that action.
Thanks to Alexandra Shulman & The Daily Telegraph.

Model dies on the catwalk

Death on the catwalkA young Uruguayan model died of heart failure while participating in a fashion show during Fashion Week in Montevideo (Uruguay), according to officials at the hotel where the show was held. 22 year-old Luisel Ramos felt ill after walking the catwalk, fainted on her way to the dressing room and died in spite of the medical attention she received from a mobile hospital unit.
The doctors who treated her diagnosed her with heart failure. The young woman’s father told police that the model had gone several days without eating. In Uruguay’s close neighbor, Argentina, more and more women are struggling with body obsession. The USA leads the world in deaths caused by eating disorders, followed by Japan and Germany.

Audrey Lindvall killed in bicycle wreck

Audrey LindvallAngela Lindvall’s little sister, 23-year-old Audrey was riding her bike near Highways 150 and 291 when she hit a curb and was thrown under the wheels of a gasoline tanker that was pulling into a gas station. A friend of her was riding behind her. The two were planning to meet friends and go partying.
Fashion model Audrey Lindvall was staying at her family’s home in Lee’s Summit before moving from New York to Los Angeles. She would have turned 24 next week. Lindvall’s friends and relatives said they are overwhelmed with grief. “She loved everybody, and she really went out and lived life to the fullest. She used to love to make faces and laugh and have fun,” said Michelle Jersept, one of the victim’s sisters. “She was going to move to LA with (her sister) Angela, go back to school, continue to model. And she was in love, found the love of her life. She was very, very happy.” Relatives said Lindvall was multidimensional.
“(Modeling) wasn’t her passion; it took her a long time to even embrace it, which she finally did, because she realized it was a job and she was grateful for it. But her passion was nature, plants, healing and ecology,” sister Angela Lindvall said.
“She wanted to change the world,” a relative said.
“My mother always taught us that ‘pretty is as pretty does,’ and Audrey lived that,” Jersept said.
“I know that she’s an angel now, and she’s going to be with us in spirit forever. I try to find there to be some reasoning for this, and maybe it was her time to go, but it’s just so hard to think I’m never going to get to hang out with her again and laugh with her again, so I just hold on to the memories,” Angela Lindvall said. “We were very, very close, and we had such a good time together before she left.”
Relatives said that in when she was living in New York, Lindvall often rode her bicycle in heavy traffic, and they can’t believe she was killed in a bicycle wreck in a Missouri parking lot.
Members of two bicycle groups held a candlelight vigil at the scene of the accident Thursday night. They said they wanted to highlight the need for safer streets for bicyclists.

Adriana Lima poses for American Airlines

Adriana Lima , American Airlines | © Jaunted EntLooks like super model Adriana Lima has joined the spontaneous airport photo shoot club. She recently checked into an American Airlines flight at LAX and posed for some snapshots. AA has to be over the moon with this development, could there be a better spontaneous ad for American?
Just when we thought no one wanted to fly America’s gray lady of the air, with fuel costs driving flight costs through the roof, Adriana wraps her hotness around an AA logo in the LAX terminal and all is forgotten.
But, what young male 25-40 doesn’t want to end up seated next to a beautiful lady during a six hour cross country flight. Isn’t this how giant corporations sold all those cigarettes back in the day?
