Former fashion model Kim McLagan dies in traffic accident

Kim McLaganKim McLagan, a British fashion model in the 1960s and the wife of former Faces keyboardist Ian McLagan, died Wednesday in a traffic accident.
The 57-year-old spa owner was hit by a dump truck when she ran a stop sign in Travis County, said James Parrish, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety. She was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
Kim Kerrigan rose to prominence as a teenage model in London in the 1960s. She married the Who drummer Keith Moon in 1966 and appeared the next year in the worldwide satellite debut of the Beatles’ “All You Need Is Love” video. The couple divorced in 1975, and Moon died in 1978. She married Ian McLagan the same year.
The McLagans moved in 1994 from Los Angeles to the Austin area, where they lived on 15 acres in Manor in eastern Travis County.Ian McLagan established himself in the Austin music scene, while his wife, a licensed aesthetician, worked at a spa and opened K.M. Skincare in a rural community near Smithville.
“Kim just loved it out here,” said Dick Simcoe, owner of Little Thailand restaurant in Garfield, where the McLagans ate regularly. “She told me she’d never move back to England.”
Simcoe said he had no idea McLagan used to be a model.
“She was so beautiful, inside and out. Her and Mac were very much in love,” he said.
Kim McLagan grew up as Patsy Kerrigan on her family’s rubber plantation in Malaysia. When her family returned to London and she began modeling, she changed her name to Kim to avoid being confused with fellow model Pattie Boyd.
Ellen Moore, a reporter for the Bastrop Advertiser, frequently wrote about the McLagans in her local scene column. She said Kim McLagan was always interested in learning about ways to keep people healthy.
“There was no one on this earth who didn’t think that she was an angel. She was very family-minded, a wonderful, loyal friend,” Moore said.
She is survived by a daughter, Mandy Moon, the product of her marriage to Keith Moon. The McLagans were married for 28 years and had no children together.

Kate Moss on September cover of Vanity Fair

Kate Moss on a partyKate Moss, wearing long white gloves, leather boots and a white fur hat, graces the cover of Vanity Fair’s September issue.
The 32-year-old supermodel also appears in a photo spread inside the magazine, which hits newsstands Aug. 8. In two photos, she sports an androgynous look - wearing a black hat, jacket and tie - inspired by Marlene Dietrich. In another, she channels Dietrich in the 1934 movie The Scarlet Empress by posing in a white gown draped around her waist.
Moss has the top spot among the rich and famous featured in the magazine’s international best-dressed list for 2006.
Other sharp dressers include George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey, Renee Zellweger, Gwen Stefani, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, CNN newsman Anderson Cooper, filmmaker Sofia Coppola, Prince William and Jordan’s Queen Rania.
The sexy Vanity Fair cover is the latest move in Moss’ career comeback. She entered a drug rehab clinic in Arizona last year after pictures of her allegedly using cocaine were published in a British tabloid. In June, prosecutors said there was insufficient evidence to charge Moss.
Although Moss lost contracts with Chanel, H&M and Gloria Vanderbilt after the photos were published, she has signed new modelling contracts and appeared on several magazine covers, including the December issue of Vanity Fair.
She has maintained her relationship with Burberry, and can be seen in the company’s new ad campaign.
