Lily Allen vs. Kate Moss

Lily AllenLily Allen is on a rampage! First she verbally attacked stick thin Posh Spice, and now the British singer is going head to head with fashion icon Kate Moss.
Lily just launched her exclusive range of clothing at New Look just seven days after Kate Moss’s collection hit Topshop. But Lily isn’t threatened by Moss. She’s convinced that her line will do better because she is a better role model than her stick thin rival.
When asked what she thinks of Kate’s clothing Lily reveals, “I’ve seen a couple of pieces - they look cool. Would I wear them? Me, personally? I don’t think I’d fit in them.”
Lily reveals her own collection is for real girls with real curves. The singer took the lengths to mention on her website WhatLilyLoves.com, “All my dresses are super-girly but that doesn’t mean you have to be size zero. “The more curves the better! Fashion is for everyone, not just a load of super-skinny models.”

Gisele Bundchen leaves Victoria’s Secret

Gisele BundchenBrazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen has reportedly ended her contract with lingerie retailer Victoria’s Secret.
Bundchen’s sister confirmed that the highest paid model in the world quit as the lingerie line’s ‘Angel’ after the company refused to raise her annual salary from 5 million dollars.
According to a source, the company does not care about Bundchen going away as her demands were shocking and unacceptable.
“Her demands were outrageous. She got a new lawyer who was unrealistic,” New York Post quoted the source, as saying.
“Victoria’s Secret doesn’t care. They have five new hotter, younger girls debuting next year. And they won’t have to deal with any craziness,” the source added.
Bundchen’s representatives and the company have both been silent over the issue.
The Victoria’s Secret Angels are the spokespersons for Victoria’s Secret. Current Victoria’s Secret Angels include Oluchi Onweagba, Selita Ebanks, Adriana Lima, Izabel Goulart, Alessandra Ambrosio, Karolina Kurkova, and Heidi Klum, who will probably come back from a baby-pause.

Naomi ‘at peace’ with Piers Morgan

Naomi CampbellSupermodel Naomi Campbell says she’s now at peace with a former editor of the Daily Mirror for printing photographs of her leaving a drug counselling session six years ago.
Campbell won a privacy infringement lawsuit against the The Daily Mirror over the pictures in Britain in 2004.
The legal case led to a public spat between Campbell and the newspaper’s then editor Piers Morgan.
Campbell agreed to be interviewed by Morgan for the magazine GQ in its April issue. Asked about the interview by Prestige Hong Kong magazine in its May edition, Campbell said she agreed to it against the advice of her friends and enjoyed it.
“I don’t hold grudges and had moved on,” the model was quoted as saying.
“Three years later when we did sit down, I felt we were two human beings who actually shared something pretty big in common, a very high-profile court case. I found it really interesting, particularly since I also got the opportunity to ask Piers a few questions and make him sweat a bit,” Campbell reportedly said.
In the interview for GQ, Campbell admitted taking drugs, but maintained The Daily Mirror was wrong to have run photos of her leaving drug counselling.

More women making the rich list - including Kate Moss

Kate Moss
Women in Britain just keep getting richer, setting a record high in the Sunday Times Rich List.
The number of women in the top 1,000 wealthiest people in the country rose by 20 per cent this year to 92 regardless of the entry bar being raised to 70 million pounds to account for what the newspaper describes as a “rising tide of wealth”.
Women who make it into the overall richest people include Jacqueline Gold, founder of High Street sex shop Ann Summers, who together with father David and uncle Ralph reaches 133 with a ?550 million fortune; Swede Cristina Stenbeck, who inherited her father’s Stenbeck media empire, a new entry at number 205 with ?387 million; and Caroline Nash, who has made 70 million by cornering the market in motorcycle insurance, at joint 949.
Another new entrant is Irina Abramovich, who reputedly made 155 million from her divorce from Russian billionaire and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, landing her at 452nd place.
And despite predictions that her career was over when she was dropped by Chanel, Burberry and H&M following cocaine allegations in 2005, supermodel Kate Moss tops her spectacular come back with a first entry into the who’s who of 100 wealthiest women.
The Croydon-born British Fashion Awards Model of the Year, whose new collection is expected to provoke a stampede in London’s Oxford Street Topshop tomorrow, is thought to have earned 30 million in 2006 alone through lucrative contracts with giants such as Virgin Mobile, Longchamp, Stella McCartney and Calvin Klein.
She is valued by the Rich List at 45 million pounds including property assets - among these a ?2 million Cotswolds home - meaning she scrapes into the top 100 women at joint 99 with LK Bennett shoe boss Linda Bennett.
Other new entries into the women’s top 100 wealthiest include Meena Pathak, the woman behind one of the country’s most successful food companies - Patak, at 28 with 205 million; website Bebo founder Xochi Birch, at joint 43 with 150 million pounds, and Champneys health farm head Dorothy Purdew, at joint 55 with ?105 million.
The 19th annual Sunday Times Rich List, which describes itself as “the definitive guide to wealth in Britain and Ireland”, is based on identifiable wealth such as land, property and other assets such as art and shares, but does not include bank accounts, which are confidential.

`Richest’ supermodel jilts L.A.

Gisele Bundchen
Gisele Bundchen
, one of the world’s most famous faces in modeling, has for the moment turned up her nose at living in Los Angeles.
The 26-year-old, who has appeared on the covers of just about every major international fashion magazine since - as the story goes - she was discovered in a Brazilian shopping mall at age 14, has sold her 4,000-square-foot Hollywood Hills home for $4 million and is now living in New York.
The one-story, gated Spanish hacienda in the Sunset Strip area that she sold has a media room, a gym, city views and a pool. The home has four bedrooms - room enough for all of Bundchen’s five sisters, including her twin - to stay overnight.
Bundchen said an official farewell in 2005 to her relationship with Leonardo DiCaprio. They were chosen by People magazine as the “Most Beautiful Couple in the World” in 2004.
Her personal fortune, valued at $150 million, put her in the “Guinness World Records” book as “the world’s richest supermodel.”
She has modeled for Victoria’s Secret, Louis Vuitton, Valentino, Lanvin and Vogue Eyewear. She is a spokesmodel for Christian Dior and Ralph Lauren. And she has her own line of shoes, called Ipanema Gisele Bundchen. More than 100 million pairs have been sold in six years.

Size 0 models on catwalk

Alice BurdeuTHE weighty issue of skinny models has raised its ugly head after a young girl with a dangerously low body mass index was booked to hit the runway in two of shows at the high-profile Australian Fashion Week.
While the fashion world is moving to ban overly thin models who have a low BMI, organisers of Australian Fashion Week are not following suit - instead opting to let the local industry regulate itself.
At the centre of the controversy is Australia’s Next Top Model contestant Alice Burdeu who, along with the program’s four other finalists, has been booked to strut her stuff in the shows for leading designers Alex Perry and Alex Zabotto-Bentley’s Fashion Assassin label during next week’s fashion extravaganza.
Carrying a mere 58kg on her willowy 185cm frame, Burdeu has a BMI of 15.3.
The World Health Organisation considers 18 to be healthy.
Models in Madrid who fall under this BMI number are now banned from participating in fashion shows, while other parts of the world are also cracking down on super-slim models.
The international call to fight the malnourished look - particularly in relation to BMI scrutiny - has come following the death of three overseas models this year, but Australia is still seen to be taking a softer stand than most other countries.
Australian Fashion Week supremo Simon Lock was yesterday full of praise for Burdeu’s “overall look” as he defended the voluntary guidelines on weight in place for Monday’s fashion week launch.
“We don’t need to go by a BMI schedule because the industry is very diligent when it comes to this issue,” Lock said.
“Alice has a great overall look - she’s my pick to take out the Australia’s Next Top Model contest and I’m looking forward to seeing her on the catwalk,” he added.

Kate Moss in smoke trouble

Kate Moos
LONDON: Troubled supermodel Kate Moss and her even more disturbed boyfriend, rocker Pete Doherty, have been blamed by an anti-smoking body for encouraging kids to smoke by making the habit look cool.
Ash, the anti-smoking charity, slammed the couple for being photographed smoking or carrying cigarette packets. A spokesperson for the charity said: “Kids still see smoking as cool and that is down to role models.”
Moss recently spent $8,000 on a pro-smoking piece of artwork, which hangs in her London home. It features Liar Liar actress Jennifer Tilly smoking in front of a bunch of packets of cigarettes. The piece is called Smoking Kills.

Tyra Banks and Kimora Lee Simmons, Just Friends?

Tyra BanksAmerica’s Next Top Model creator Tyra Banks and Kimora Lee Simmons, retired model who previously appeared as a celebrity guest judge on America’s Next Top Model, was reportedly seen at the courtside of a New York Knicks vs. New Jersey Nets NBA basketball game with singer-actress Beyonce and rapper Jay-Z. So what’s so disturbing about the news? Banks was actually seen kissing Simmons on the lips, although it hasn’t been confirmed if it was just a friendly gesture or a romantic budge.
In February, it was reported that Tyra Banks, former supermodel and host of America’s Next Top Model, was very much optimistic to look for Mr. Right. She said after a string of heartaches, “I want someone to be there because I want him there, not because I need him there. I never wanted to depend on someone. When we were filming the last season of Top Model, I was going through some man drama. Heartbreak is serious pain! But once you get through it, you look back at the person you were crying over and realize they were never meant to be the one.”
Simmons, a 31-year old native of St. Louis, Missouri, got exposed to the world of modeling at the age of 14, representing brands like Chanel. This was followed by her acquisition of numerous projects, appearing in print and on the runway. As an actress, she appeared in films like All or Nothing and Beauty Shop. At present, she is the head designer of Baby Phat.
Could Simmons be Banks’ Ms. Right? Despite the pictures that showed the “apparent kissing scene,” majority of Banks’ fans were unconvinced of the couple being more than friends, even though other news sites reported that the two have been visibly spending time together. In fact, many loyal fans considered the issue as just tittle-tattle.
