Lily Donaldson Buys Into New York

Lily Donaldson
Lily Donaldson is investing her millions in real estate. The 21-year-old Vogue cover girl, spent $2.2 million on an Avenue B apartment. Her new two-bedroom place on Tompkins Square Park around East Eighth Street could be the most expensive co-op ever sold on the block, NY OBSERVER reports
She has Brazilian cherry wood floors , two bathrooms with original pedestal sinks and cast iron tubs, a 40-foot-long living room with six windows facing three directions, and, of course, a dressing room off one of the two bedrooms.
Ms. Donaldson was “the highest bidder and very qualified. The board liked her and approval was unanimous, which is always a concern when you’re dealing with a young model,” the broker said. “You’re never sure how a board would see her.”

Canadian Super Model Stacey McKenzie to attend CEF Benefit Event by Stile Diva, Inc. in St. Maarten!

Stacey MckenzieRenowned supermodel Stacey McKenzie to lend her insight and advice in St. Maarten this August, as part of the second annual Caribbean World Beauty & Barber Tradeshow.
After months of preparation, Stile Diva Inc. is thrilled to announce the addition of Canadian fashion model and runway coach Stacey McKenzie to this summer’s Caribbean World Beauty and Barber Tradeshow (CWBBT). During the week-long beauty and fashion event - which will be held on the stunning island of St. Maarten - McKenzie will lend her knowledge of the fashion industry to a group of aspiring students, and conduct two of her Walk This Way workshops.
The second annual CWBBT will take place from August 23 -30, 2008 at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort & Casino in St. Maarten.
“I am very excited to be a part of this year’s event”, says McKenzie. My Walk This Way workshops go way beyond perfecting one’s runway strut. It’s about instilling confidence into these young people. When a student leaves a workshop feeling better about them self - that’s the most gratifying feeling in the world.
Presented by Stile Diva Inc. and supported by the St. Maarten Tourist Bureau and MSI Travel, the second annual CWBBT is a week-long fashion and beauty event, which focuses on bringing North American industry expertise to the Caribbean.

The event will include a variety of exciting affairs including Embellish fashion shows, hands-on workshops, business development seminars, shopping events, hair styling and makeup artistry competitions, and award ceremonies.
On August 23rd the CWBBT will kick off with a fashion benefit gala called Couture for a Cause, which raises money and awareness in support of the Caribbean Education Foundation.
The CWBBT will also include two youth days dedicated to mentoring young men and women from local St. Maarten schools, who are interested in pursuing careers in related industries. Over these two days, young people will participate in career showcases and receive advice and motivation from McKenzie and other famous faces in fashion, entertainment and beauty.
Stile Diva Inc. is a social enterprise which plans and executes fashion productions and promotional events. Partners Shereen Ashman (based in Toronto) and Stacy Ann Violenes (based in the Caribbean) work with clients and communities to create opportunities for growth, development and exposure through showcases, exhibitions and cross promotions. Stile Diva also aims to hone and expose emerging talents who offer fresh insights to the world.
Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Stacey McKenzie is a Canadian fashion model and runway coach. Upon the completion of high school, McKenzie moved to Paris, and launched her career modeling for a host of top designers, including Jean Paul Gauthier. McKenzie soon took her brand of beauty to runways around the globe, and landed major campaigns such as Calvin Klein CKbe and MAC cosmetics. She has also graced the cover of numerous magazines, including Essence, Harper’s Bazaar, Fashion, Vogue and Flare.
As an actor, McKenzie has appeared in movies and on television shows around the world. Aside from several hosting gigs, she has been a guest on America’s Next Top Model and a judge and model coach on Canada’s Next Top Model. Most recently, McKenzie has perused her vision of teaching runway through the development of Stacey McKenzie’s Walk This Way.

Beach frenzy…

Daria WerbowyShe dances across the screen, bronzed, toned limbs draped in exotic bohemian attire, a fabulous example of just how to pull off this summer’s castaway chic trend. Supermodel Daria Werbowy stares seductively into the camera for the new H&M ad campaign and a summer style icon is launched.
The stunning 24-year-old Canadian is snapped in a heady mix of ikat and ethnic floral prints, dip-dyes and ombré effects.
“We wanted to create something very colourful and light, with stand-out print,” said H&M head of design Ann-Sofie Johansson. “We were inspired by hot holidays in Africa, India, Hawaii and South America.”
The gorgeous globetrotter eclectic look has flooded the SS/08 catwalks — think paisley prints on breezy silks, fringed waistcoats and fluid flares and bohemia glamour translated to the beach. The daily beach uniform could not be simpler this season.

Take a Seventies-inspired triangle bikini and a swimsuit in a subtle shade like caramel or mocha (such as Monsoon’s classy metallic number, €510), load wrists with bracelets and deck out necks with beaten metal and jewels. Pack billowing kaftans, such as the fab easy-to-wear J by Jasper Conran kaftan, €47, and ponchos.
Top with a colourful headscarf. If you want to go all out, check out Hermes’ silk version, from €200, and teamed with gladiator sandals to finish off the look.
The cognac leather gladiator flat sandal by D&G (Dolce & Gabbana), from €350, available at Brown Thomas, is the most sought-after style for the summer.
However, don’t worry, you don’t need to go designer all the way — the high street is packed full of cheaper alternatives that will get you through the summer months, such as Penny’s leather sandal, a steal at €14. The penny saving store also has a cute beaded tribal bag,€7, perfect for tropical holidays. Check out Antik Batik’s fabulous SSO8 selection of fringed leather bags, from €250, available at selected boutiques nationwide.
For hot steamy nights team the gladiator flats with Matthew Williamson’s atomic beaded dress,€2,160, or a selection of pretty ethnic print dresses available at Mango.
