Naomi Campbell going bald

Naomi CampbellBritish supermodel Naomi Campbell has been losing quite a lot of hair recently and is in fact going bald, according to a pal.
The friend revealed that the 38-year-old British beauty, who was charged this week for an alleged air-rage bust-up, had started losing her hair 15-years-ago.
Due to the hair extensions she kept getting, her hair also started thinning, but she refused to pay heed to the warnings that she would lose a lot of her hair if she continued with it and not give her hair a rest.
Campbell was spotted and photographed with what looked like a bald patch, this week outside Heathrow police station.
Thats been happening for a while. The hair stylist Sam McKnight said to me in the Nineties, Shed better be careful with those weaves, shes going to lose her hair, The Sun quoted fashion photographer and ex-model Huggy Ragnarsson as saying.

Banks: ‘I was snubbed because I’m black and curvy’

Tyra BanksTyra Banks faced a battle to become a runway success, because of her skin colour and size.
The supermodel-turned-talk show host claims more doors were closed for her than other wannabes, because she didn’t fit in with the modelling industry’s usual perception of beauty.
She even accuses a number of designers of blacklisting her, telling the New York Times magazine: “My biggest obstacle was that I was black and curvy,” adding that her agency had a list of “designers who will not book Tyra because of hips and breasts.”
The 34-year-old claims modelling bosses tried to convince her mother to put her on a diet - but she refused: “My mother told me the whole thing as we were walking down the street in Milan.
“She said: ‘They say you’re too curvy. Let’s go order pizza.’ We walked into a pizzeria, and we discussed a career change.”

Did Selita Ebanks Have Plastic Surgery?

Selita EbanksSelita Ebanks‘ modeling career blossomed when her bosom did, giving her the distinguishment of being the only Victoria’s Secret model known to have breast implants apart from Gisele Bundchen and Heidi Klum.
Although she is just as well known for being previously engaged to Mariah Carey’s husband Nick Cannon as for being a supermodel, the 25-year old didn’t attract much notice until she had a breast augmentation sometime in the past couple of years. Selita’s breasts are very round and high and don’t seem to “jiggle” like natural breasts. There is also deep cleavage between them. These are all positive indications of breast implants on a small frame.
Last year, Make Me Heal speculated that when the model appeared at the BET awards, she had undergone a breast augmentation. Now it now appears the rumor is fully confirmed. The skinny model has enhanced her breasts from a small A-cup to a C-cup, helping her join the ranks of supermodels with breast implants like Giselle Bundchen and Heidi Klum. Shortly after Selita sported her new breasts, she was allowed to wear the “Very Sexy”? Holiday Fantasy Bra Set, which is covered with diamonds and rubies, at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show, further boosting her career and her boobs.
Although breast augmentation generally tops the list of plastic surgery procedures for models, rhinoplasty procedures are another favorite. Selita may have had a nose job at some point early in her career, as in some earlier photos, the end of her nose appears to be slightly rounder than its current more pinched and refined form. Plastic surgeon Dr. Paul Nassif believes she had a rhinoplasty, saying that Selita, Definitely had a rhinoplasty. It looks good. The tip and the nostrils have been narrowed. The dorsum ridge of the nose is also narrower. It’s natural and not to small?
Now that Selita has a new bust, a new nose and a new man, New York Giants football player Osi Umenyiora, maybe Selita will be as lucky in love as she has been on the runway.

Step Aside, Actresses: The Supers Are Back

Christy Turlington Out with the new, in with the old! The supermodels of the late eighties and nineties are reclaiming their territory in many European ad campaigns this fall. Though designers had been favoring actresses for campaign spots, many of the big houses are featuring supers in their fall ads. For example, Linda Evangelista stars in Prada, Naomi Campbell in Yves Saint Laurent, Claudia Schiffer in Chanel, and Christy Turlington in Escada. So, why the shift? In 1996 Calvin Klein said, “I don’t think people are that interested in models anymore.” And now people might not be that interested in actresses. WWD reports:
“At the end of the Nineties, there was a ’supermodel’ overdose and people wanted to see actresses, but maybe the fact that actresses don’t really have a real relationship with fashion is driving ‘their return’,” mused agent Didier Fernandez at DNA Models, which represents Evangelista, Nadja Auermann and Amber Valletta. He also suggested “people are starting to wake up” to the value, both in the emotive and bankable sense, of these iconic women.
For example, L’Oreal’s profits increased 20 percent since Linda Evangelista started appearing in their ads eighteen months ago. A Louis Vuitton spokeswoman pointed out that a recognizable face is necessary to make people stop and look at an ad. It’s true though we might go gaga over Sasha Pivovarova, it’s likely not too many people outside of the industry will know who she is.
And the supers aren’t just sweeping ad campaigns. Rumor has it they’ll appear in a fall issue of Italian Vogue.
