Jennifer Hawkins launches own fashion label in Myer Spring/Summer Collection
IT wasn’t quite stacking it down the stairs or exposing a G-string, but Jennifer Hawkins wouldn’t be Hawko without just one customary fashion faux pas.
The revolving circular stage proved a tad tricky for the Myer maven during the retail giant’s fashion show finale last night, causing Hawkins to twist her heel and briefly lose her balance as she left the catwalk.
And despite displaying a taut and toned bod which would have made David Beckham envious, Mr Myer, Jake Wall, appeared to have traded his model hat for that of burgeoning film star – fidgeting nervously and looking downwards as he hit the runway sans shirt.
However, it was the night that Hawkins got down to business – and she did have extra reason to be nervous.
Not only was she launching the Myer Spring/Summer Collection – but also debuting her fashion label, writes Jen Melocco, Fashion Editor.
The former Miss Universe, model and TV presenter is now hoping to add budding designer to her burgeoning CV with the unveiling of Cozi by Jennifer Hawkins.
“I was nervous but there was also an adrenalin rush,” Hawkins said after the launch at the Entertainment Quarter last night.
Hawkins was simply stunning when she modelled a Mad Cortes marble print maxi gown, created by Sydney mum of toddler twins Mira Vukovic.
But Hawkins didn’t let the chance to mix business with pleasure slip by – strutting the catwalk in bold bikinis she helped create and that range in price from $49.95 to $129.
“I really wanted bold colours and yellow is just a colour I associate with summer,” she said of the bikinis.
In a fitting finale, Hawkins turned heads in a stunning hot red corsetted Camilla & marc gown.
After one of the toughest winters in retail, which saw Myer going into sale mode a month early, the department store hosted a superb but smaller scale show compared with past spectaculars.
Also on show last night were latest designs by Leona Edmiston, Wayne Cooper, Bettina Liano and Toni Maticevski.
