Kate Moss, the supermodel with a sordid history and a gold statue of herself on display in a British museum, has hit upon a novel idea and she wants to share it with the world. As it turns out, being a professional model is not the best diet plan in the world, “You go to a show and there’s no food at all … I remember standing up in the bath one day and … I was so thin! I was never anorexic … I remember thinking, I don’t want to be this skinny.”
Not to knock the idea that fashion runways and the modeling industry create unrealistic body-image expectations for young women, but Kate is picking an interesting time (two weeks before New York’s Fashion Week, which kicks off the global event) and place (Andy Warhol’s magazine) to drop this truth bomb on the world.
Kate’s clothing line Topshop is on the brink of a lucrative deal in China, and all of a sudden the formerly mum model gets all chatty with Vogue and Interview about eating disorders? If she really wanted to do something about the pressure models face about their body image, she’d put a sandwich where her mouth is and move up a cup size or two.

GEELONG model and Home and Away star Esther Anderson has been named the face of the Decjuba Girls Day Out race day at Flemington.
The event, featuring the Makybe Diva Stakes, marks the first of the race days on Flemington’s Spring Racing calendar.
Anderson has been a fan favourite since arriving in Summer Bay as Constable Charlie Buckton on the popular soapie.
She’s no novice when it comes to fashion, having seen much of the world thanks to her time working as a model throughout Asia and Europe.
The 29-year-old, who spends most of her days on set in her police uniform, said she was looking forward to the chance to put on some heels,
“My character Charlie on Home and Away wears a uniform, so I am looking forward to heading back to my hometown for the carnival and frocking up,” she said.
The former Belmont High student’s ambassador role will mean attending the Flemington Spring Fashion Lunch, along with a number of Melbourne Cup functions throughout the spring racing carnival. The fashion launch lunch is an official event of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week.
Watch out for the special spring racing edition of GT on Friday, September 26, jam-packed with the latest in fashions and a survival guide for getting through a day at the races.

Eva Herzigova and Liz Hurley went to head-to-head on the red carpet in Venice last night at the world premiere of Valentino: The Last Emperor in Venice.
With all-out glamour the order of the day, a host of Hollywood stars had turned out for the fashionable event, including Diane Kruger, Claire Danes and Charlize Theron but it was Eva and Liz who stole the limelight in two very revealing gowns.
The film itself is an intimate look at the life of Valentino, who retired from the world of couture earlier this year.
Fittingly many of his guests at the premiere and, later, at an exclusive after-party at the Guggenheim Museum, were wearing Valentino. However, when asked who wore his designs the best, Valentino saved his praise for the one star not in attendance: Julia Roberts.
‘I have to be very sincere, the person that makes me feel very happy, also because [she] chose vintage, was Julia Roberts, when she got the Academy Award,’ he admitted. ‘I was very excited to see her when she appeared with my dress. It’s very important for stars to like your clothes.’

Kate Moss has caused upset in her small Oxfordshire hamlet by erecting 2 giant teepees in her garden.
Neighbours claim the 15ft tents spoil their view of the Cotswold Hills.
‘We have had an email complaining about the teepees and asking if they require permission,’ a local planning officer tells the Daily Express.
‘Our investigating officer will visit as soon as possible to establish the situation.’
Kate, 34, is said to have brought the tents for ?4,000 from the Cornbury Music Festival. And it’s sparked speculation she may want them for a wedding to boyfriend Jamie Hince, 39.
‘It’s perfectly legal to put up a marquee in your back garden for a wedding,’ the official adds.

Jennifer Hawkins and Megan Gale watch out.
There’s a new model on the catwalk and she’s from Bolwarra.
The 14-year-old schoolgirl, Taylor Davies, has an opportunity most girls would kill for.
Taylor has been picked by fashion designer Alex Perry to model in his runway show tonight at Monte Pio.
Liza’s of Lorn Designer Boutique owner and event organiser Rebecca Daines says Taylor was chosen along with five other girls from Newcastle from a group of 15 and is the only Maitland girl in the show.
Taylor has not modelled before but was excited and nervous about her debut.
“I’ve been practicing walking up and down the hallway,” the Year 8 student said.
The fashion-conscious teenager looks forward to meeting Perry, who is one of her idols.
“I can’t wait to meet him. I’ve seen him on TV.”
Taylor said she had not considered a career in modelling but it was now something she might pursue.
“It will be a lot of fun,” she said.
Rebecca said Taylor would be trained one-on-one by Perry.
“He will chose outfits that best suit Taylor.”
Taylor and five models from Paradox Model Management in Newcastle will parade with seven models from Chic Management in Sydney to show clothes from Perry’s Safari Princess Spring Summer ‘08/’09 Collection.
The runway show will raise funds for the McGrath Foundation.
