Elizabeth Hurley may have posed in a hot pink bikini to publicise her beachwear range.
But she came over all coy at the store’s opening, choosing instead to cover up in a brightly patterned kaftan, and white jeans.
Instead the 43-year-old chose to leave the bikini duty to the two young models who accompanied her to the less than glamorous store opening.
Surprisingly for the former actress turned designer, there was no sign of her A-list friends whose parties she regularly graces.
The actress and model, 43, opened her first Elizabeth Hurley Beach Boutique store at discount designer shopping outlet Bicester Village, in Oxfordshire.
The boutique, styled on a beach hut, will offer 120 British and international fashion labels, Philip Treacy sun hats, and Cutler and Gross sunglasses, as well as Ms Hurley’s own line of swimwear.
Later Liz manned the tills as husband Arun Nayar supported her from the sidelines.
The model told around 100 fans: ‘It’s a huge thrill. Thank you all for coming. I’m going to be serving behind the till until 2pm.’
Earlier she joked: ‘Fingers crossed I can work the till.’
A spokeswoman for the shopping centre said: ‘She’s being very game, wrapping up and personalising the presents.’
The shop in the open air promenade, is less than an hour from the star’s home in Gloucestershire.
Liz, who lives nearby in Gloucestershire, said: “My friends and I are huge fans of Bicester Village and I am thrilled to be opening my first worldwide boutique here.
‘I hope my beach hut will be a huge success and be the first of many others.’
Elizabeth has fielded rumours of any unrest in her marriage to businessman Arun Nayar.
The pair married in March 2007, and have just celebrated their second wedding anniversary.

Daisy Lowe is moving up in the world after landing her own series on MTV.
The model will film herself among the G20 protests this week and will be giving her views on how we can save the planet in the new fly-on-the-wall documentary.
The Agent Provocateur pin-up, 20, said: ‘A lot of people don’t understand who I am just looking at photos of me, but they’ll get a better idea of what I’m about with this show.’
Talking at a party in Camden last night, she added: ‘I’m spiritual and up for saving the world.’
A source added: ‘Daisy’s the perfect choice for a new observational documentary as she’s young and good looking and leads a really interesting life, so it’s bound to be great viewing.’
As well as being an up-and coming model, Daisy has a wealth of famous family and friends that the show’s producer’s will no doubt be hoping to include.
Daisy’s mother is fashion designer Pearl Lowe, who is a friend of Kate Moss, and her father is Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale.
Gavin is now married to Gwen Stefani and Pearl is married to Supergrass drummer Dan Goffey. That’s a few star guests covered.
The source continued: ‘They will be filming all over the world, but it’s going to be an observational documentary, rather than reality TV.’
Last night – at the Kickers Random Bandit party in Camden’s Lock Tavern – Daisy distanced herself from other MTV series, such as those by the Osbournes, Katie Price and Kerry Katona.
Daisy said:’MTV are now doing some credible TV shows. I’m working on this with an old friend of mine who I trust and admire.’
An MTV spokesperson confirmed: ‘We’re very excited that Daisy has given MTV access to film her. It’s early stages, but we’re looking forward to working closely with her on this new project.’
MTV will continue filming tonight at Bolongaro Trevor in the West End, where Daisy will be DJing and mother Pearl will unveil her new clothing line.

Heidi Klum brought Beverly Hills’ famous Rodeo Drive to a standstill yesterday with her thigh-high leather platform boots.
The German supermodel squeezed herself into a pair of Alexander McQueen kinky boots as she posed on the streets of LA’s shopping mecca for a German Vogue shoot.
The 35-year-old dangerously tottered on a street bench in the 12-inch high heels in the undoubted highlight of a wacky series of shots.
Her thigh-high boots appeared to ape the style of her famous friend Victoria Beckham.
Posh Spice caused a stir at her fragrance launch in New York in September when she stepped out in a ?3,300 Antonio Berardi thigh-high latex boots without a heel.
Heidi’s presence on Rodeo Drive soon attracted crowds of shoppers.
The 5ft 9 supermodel and mother of three also dared to bare her flanks in slashed-to-the-thigh dress.
In a throwback to Eighties fashion, the plunging black dress had unusual turquoise woolen balls in the puffy sleeves.
She wore the power dress with a quirky accessory – a baby pink plastic poodle handbag.
The 5ft 9 supermodel was given extra height with a pair of brown and black lace effect heels with an ankle strap.
Heidi also posed in another Eighties-style black mini dress with oversized lace collar and peep-toe ankle boots.
In a more demure ensemble, Heidi went for secretary chic in a black jacket and pencil skirt with white collar.
She gave the look an added fun factor with a red lips clutch bag with quirky toe definition nude heels.
But the shoot wasn’t just all black, Heidi was given a colour injection with a mermaid-esque Giles Deacon red scaled mini dress with matching red coat and killer black heels.
The day the mother-of-three was striking poses in busy Rodeo Drive, she was also gracing TV screens in her adopted home of America.
Heidi went undercover as a waitress in a LA pizza parlour as part of an April Fool’s Day special to trick members of the public.
With her face free of make-up, Heidi flirted up a storm as confused customers told her she looked like ‘Heidi Klum’ in the CBS special I Get That A Lot.
She said: ‘I didn’t wear makeup and I had my hair in a bun with a pencil in it.
‘I got to be the pizza girl. I got to be someone I am normally not. I was quite rude to people. I would bite their pizza and give it to them. I would drop the dough on the floor, pick it up and use it.
‘I got a lot of [phone] numbers. I was flirting. I don’t usually do that because I am happily married.’
Modelling job aside, Heidi was thrilled to find out she could resume her hit TV show Project Runaway after producers sorted out a legal wrangle.
Producers Weinstein Company wanted to move the fashion design reality show from NBC to Lifetime, but NBC sued the Weinsteins, claiming it had violating their contract.
Nearly a year later, the Weinsteins confirmed yesterday they have paid NBC for the rights to move the show to Lifetime so it is expected to hit TV screens later this year.
A joint statement from NBC and the Weinsteins said: ‘The Weinstein Company will pay NBCU for the right to move Project Runway to Lifetime. All of the parties are pleased with the outcome.’
Heidi has hosted the show since it began in 2004 and was nominated for an Emmy Award last year as Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program.

If Kate Moss can make it here, she can make it anywhere.
But just in case, superstar Jennifer Lopez was on hand to give the launch of Sir Philip Green’s first US Topshop store a helping hand.
J.Lo gave the event, a star-studded dinner on the eve of the public opening, the A-list seal of approval.
Wearing a white strapless sheath which clung to her every curve, she certainly upstaged Kate who wore a ?60 tiered mini-dress from her new range with her favourite tuxedo jacket, black tights and heels.
The pair, who are not known to be friends kissed and greeted one another like old pals on the red carpet, and later posed up for photographs with Topshop owner Sir Philip Green.
Mossarrived with Sir Philip’s 17-year-old daughter Chloe. Other guests at the launch party included Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Hudson, James Blunt, Rosario Dawson, Blondie singer Debbie Harry, Agyness Deyn, Marc Jacobs and Vogue editor Anna Wintour.
As the evening went on Lopez, Dreamgirls star Hudson and Blunt took the microphone to surprise fellow guests with a series of songs.
Kate was at the eagerly anticipated new store to meet invited guests and promote the launch of her new collection.
And for thousands of fashion lovers in the city this is the moment they have been waiting for.
Moss is due at today’s opening ceremony at 11am New York time. Long queues were expected as thousands compete to be first to get their hands on her designs.
Her new clothing range, her ninth for Topshop, also goes on sale around the world today.
The four-storey Broadway store, similar to the flagship Oxford Street branch, has 200 workers, 32 changing rooms and a DJ booth.
When the doors of the 3,716-square-metre store open today, Moss’ ninth collection will make its debut.
Some key pieces are feminine Liberty floral-print dresses, a deep-V black chiffon cocktail dress and 3/4-sleeve suede jackets.
She will also attend the grand opening party on Thursday night.
Kate, 35, arrived in the afternoon to see the store for the first time wearing her favourite outfit from her new collection – a flared full-skirted dress which will retail for ?60.
The striped dress took its inspiration from a vintage item that Kate picked up at an LA thrift store – but which didn’t fit.
She teamed it with a black blazer and star brooch, black tights and black heels.
With boyfriend Jamie Hince away on his world tour with The Kills, Kate brought Topshop owner Sir Philip Green’s 17-year-old daughter Chloe as her date.
Last night Kate showed off the range to a carefully picked selection of invited guests.
But today the Broadway store will be open to all.
And Kate will cut the ribbon as the billionaire Arcadia group owner Sir Philip and his wife Lady Green throw open the doors of the flagship American store for the first time.
The four-storey shop, a similar design to the Oxford Street flagship in London, opens in New York’s SoHo neighborhood today after six months of construction delays, including fire and flooding.
Kate’s new fashion line for the brand, her ninth collection for Topshop, goes on sale globally the same day.
The New York store has 200 workers, 32 changing rooms, a DJ booth, and a shoe lounge.
And despite the opening being at a time of global belt-tightening, it has sparked a fever of anticipation within the city.
If the new Topshop proves a success Sir Philip plans to open a second store in Manhattan and eventually to expand to Miami, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Boston.
