Dressed in a slinky black dress split to thigh, she is light years away from the intergalactic adventures which will soon make her a household name.
The stunning picture shows that Karen Gillian – Doctor Who’s latest companion – is unlikely to fade into the background when she takes her place in the Tardis in the hit BBC series next year.
Karen is already a successful model and will bring glamour to the role recently occupied by comedienne Catherine Tate.
With a string of catwalk credits, as well as appearances in high-profile fashion shoots, the 21-year-old has modelled for designers Allegra Hicks and House of Boing since leaving London’s prestigious Italia Conti stage school in 2005.
The redhead from Inverness will team up with new time lord Matt Smith, 26, who replacces outgoing star David Tennant.
Last night, Karen’s father John, said: ‘We’re delighted for her – she has worked very hard for this.’

Clothes Show London stepped it up another fashion notch with British supermodel Erin O’Connor and make-over queen Nicky Hambleton Jones not just making an appearance, but actually presenting.
Erin leads the charge this weekend in bringing the Clothes Show back to the Capital with a bang; and without due cause – she was spotted by a Models 1 scout on a school trip to Clothes Show Live in 1995. (I bet that scout’s rubbing their hands with glee). Working a number of Spring/Summer ‘09 trends, we caught Erin looking pretty in a ruffle blouse surrounded by studs. But don’t be silly, London’s fashion darling wouldn’t be caught dead surrounded by semi-naked men (she left that to Katie Price). The only studs Erin was seduced by were those on those on her edgy bang on-trend waistbelt.
Luckily for us, top stylist Nicky Hambleton Jones, pictured here looking marvellously like Kate Moss at the Met in all her metallic splendour (she wisely forgot the turban), will be giving her unique opinions and insight across the weekend. According to the Clothes Show fact file, Nicky believes that everyone has the potential to look fantastic – there’s hope for me yet then.

Supermodels Are Earning Super Incomes Through Careers in Television, Fashion Design and Endorsement
Less than two years ago, Claudia Schiffer declared that the age of the supermodel was over. Magazine covers and beauty contracts had become the province of celebrities. The industry’s newest generation had not quite attained the international, first-name basis fame that Naomi, Cindy and Christy had pioneered.
A lot has changed in two years. While fashion magazines and retail brands still market their wares with stars from music and movies, models have moved off the runway in equal measure, expanding their brands into fashion, entertainment and philanthropy. The age of the multi-hyphenate model has replaced the age of the supermodel, giving the top girls more earning power than ever before.
A perfect example is the No. 2 earner on our list, Heidi Klum. While still a successful model at the age of 35 after having three kids, the majority of Klum’s earnings are driven by her TV and endorsement career. Klum remains a member of the Victoria’s Secret angel entourage as well as host of Project Runway and Germany’s Next Top Model. The German beauty also designs a line Birkenstock sandals and has endorsement deals with Diet Coke, Volkswagen, McDonald’s and LG. Last year, she came out with her own skincare line, In An Instant.
Returning at No. 1 this year is Gisele Bündchen, who earned an estimated $25 million in the last year from numerous campaigns including Versace, True Religion jeans, Dior and Ebel watches. The Brazilian model has rare range–from high fashion to mass market–and measured impact on the success of the brands she represents. She also has her own Brazilian shoe line and tabloid fame on par with movie stars.
The models on our list were ranked according to estimated earnings from June 2008 to June 2009.
The modeling industry was hard-hit by the economic crisis. Prominent fashion labels canceled or downgraded their runway shows, leaving models hoping for a break with fewer opportunities. Declining revenues at major beauty and retail companies left agents with less leverage to bargain for their clients.

Add ex-America’s Next Top Model judge Janice Dickinson to this week’s rant over Paulina Porizkova’s exit.
Dickinson, suprisingly booted from the show several years ago, says she is none too surprised about Porizkova being escorted away from the very seat she occupied.
“That’s how Tyra rolls,” Dickinson shared with MTV news at the American Idol finale Wednesday.
“Tyra rolls like that, she likes to fire people just about when she’s promising them large amounts of money, they get the axe, like I did…. then she takes the money and runs.”
While we all love Tyra Banks for her efforts in helping to bridge the gap for women of color, plus size models and recently transgendered models, the daytime and reality diva has raised eyebrows with what I like to call Janice’s rotating chair.
It is no secret that Janice was the “Simon” (if you will, American Idol) of “America’s Next Top Model”. She told the models exactly what she thought, no holds barred, unapologetic and often times sliced deep into their self esteem. But we loved Janice for that. She was real and let’s just be honest… it sold.
It seems that every couple seasons the “Janice Chair” swings around and dumps its latest occupant. First it was Twiggy, now it’s Paulina Porizkova.
Yes, there might have been budget cuts (as noted in Tyra and Kevin Mok’s statement earlier this week) but “noted photographer” Nigel Barker retains a spot every season as does Ms. Jay, Mr. Jay and occasionally Nole Marin. Therefore, it’s easy to think that there’s something to Janice’s chair….the chair that is more often than not reserved for the former supermodel chick with attitude. (although Twiggy was rather nice compared to Dickinson and Porizkova).
With the aforemetioned said, there could be some truth in Dickinson’s statement. She doesn’t seem like a woman who’s afraid of getting in anyone’s face…
Let’s see who occupies “the chair” next season and whether they’ll be swung around and dumped for the next “fitting occupant”.
As an aside, Porizkova may not be missed as much as the others. After all it is very catty and classless to complain about being fired on a late night show, especially when no one asked (“Listen, do you know why I am in Los Angeles,” Porizkova asked…“Because I am looking for a job… Because I was fired from America’s Next Top Model on my birthday, they timed it well”).

Supermodel Heidi Klum and a pair of teenagers in bikinis gave a much-needed rise to German network Pro7 Thursday night as the finale of reality show “Germany’s Next Top Model,” drew a 15,000 sell-out crowd at Cologne’s Lanxess Arena and millions more at home.
Some 3.27 million viewers in the key 14-49 demographic tuned in to watch 19-year Sara Nuru beat out 18-year-old Mandy Bork to be crowned the country’s new top model. The figure is just shy of the 3.53 million that watched the finale earlier this year of top-rated reality show “DSDS” — Germany’s version of “American Idol” — on competitor RTL.
The fourth season success of “Top Model” has established German-born Klum as the face of Pro7, once best known for its U.S. film and series imports. It also comes after a string of event programming flops for the channel — including the disastrous paranormal casting show “The Next Uri Geller.”

Elle Macpherson was back to looking her stunning best again last night as she launched her new TV show in New York.
The star had been spotted looking less than glamorous in recent months – including being seen with a day-glow orange tan.
But at Madison Square Garden she looked back to her best in a black strapless dress from Victoria Beckham’s dress collection, and the model-turned-actress certainly wowed her fans.
One said: ‘She looked unbelievably gorgeous, radiant and had an absolutely killer smile too, showing she seems happy.’
Elle, 45, will appear alongside Mischa Barton in new U.S. drama The Beautiful Life, which is about models living in New York and is produced by Ashton Kutcher.
The Australian’s latest foray into the acting world comes after she famously starred in sitcom Friends.
Over the last year, she has been seen to be enjoying a bit of romance.
She has been seen stepping out on a date with Guy Ritchie and been on a string of dates with the American property investor Jeff Soffer.
Elle has been single since her 2005 split from French financier Arpad Busson, with whom she has two children, Arpad Flynn, 11, and Aurelius Cy, six.
Since splitting from Arpad in July 2005, Elle – who was previously married to fashion photographer Gilles Bensimon, who she divorced in 1989 – has been romantically linked to British actor Ray Fearon and Australian restaurateur David Evans.
The supermodel is reported to be worth around $60 million after a series of successful business ventures.

Kate Moss really is a social chameleon.
The supermodel, who is accustomed to mingling with the A-list set, sang and danced ‘around the clock’ with the travellers in Shepton Mallet, Somerset, earlier this week.
The multi-millionaire was seen huddled amongst the bearded itinerants as she joined the 20-strong group at for a rollicking night at their makeshift camp.
An onlooker said: ‘She certainly seemed to be enjoying herself at the hippy-style event, and it was clear the she could more than hold her own.’
The next day she showed signs of a late night as she arrived at the Highwayman Inn pub wearing pyjamas, wellington boots, an army jacket and bed-hair.
It was a far cry from her typically fashionable attire but Kate, accompanied by her hairdresser James Brown, didn’t seem concerned as she sat down for a quick pint of Guinness.
She managed to glam up just in time for a hippy style shoot on the nearby site of Glastonbury Festival.
She posed on the back of a horse drawn cart with children and even a dog as the photographer snapped away.
But despite shunning local hotels, there was obviously a limit to how far the ?6million-a-year star was prepared to go.
Rather than bedding down around a campfire, Kate stayed in a designer campervan, while her crew’s fleet of expensive Range Rovers joined the traveller’s horse-drawn carts and teepees.
Locals said that the model had opted for a slightly more glamourous version of camping, dubbed ‘glamping’.

It’s little wonder Miranda Kerr has been dubbed the next Elle MacPherson – or, indeed, that she’s won Orlando Bloom’s heart.
The Australian supermodel with the famous dimples and even more famous curves has just fronted yet another high-profile campaign for top lingerie company, Victoria’s Secret.
And with her enviable curves poured into this retro canary-yellow swim suit from their new line, it’s not difficult to see why.
The 23-year-old, who first started dating Orlando Bloom in late 2007, is now rumoured to be engaged to the Lord of the Rings star.
The couple looked extremely loved-up during a whistle-stop visit to Cannes earlier this week.
And Miranda has recently been spotted wearing what looks like an engagement ring on her left finger.
Her spokespeople declined to comment when contacted by people.com today – but just last month, she revealed her desire to start a family.
‘Yeah, one day down the line, of course I’d love to be a mum – it’s definitely something I’d like to do,’ she said.
But, also like Elle, she’s no dumb model.
In fact, Miranda has penned a book, which she hopes to release before Christmas, and has several other projects in the pipeline.
‘It’s an inspirational, motivational book for young women,’ said the Victoria’s Secret Angel, who swears by organic food and a regular yoga routine.
‘Definitely, I have a few things going on at the moment that I’m not allowed to talk about, which is really annoying, but I can’t,’ she said.
She also admitted she wasn’t averse to following Orlando into acting: ‘If there was a good role that I found interesting, I would do it,’ she said.
She went on: ‘I don’t look at myself as a sex symbol, I see it as a job that I really love.
‘I have travelled around the world, like, way too many times, and the thing is that I am so grateful to be Australian.
‘We have so much beautiful nature and beaches – things people don’t appreciate as much as they should.
‘And if they travelled a little more, then maybe they would,’ she said.

After starring in 2004 sex tape 1 Night In Paris, you’d expect Paris Hilton to stay away from home videos.
But during her latest night out in Cannes, the hotel heiress shed her inhibitions and put on a sexy show as she was filmed by her latest boyfriend Doug Reinhardt.
After changing from a gold sequinned mini-dress into a tiny black number, the socialite ended up flashing her knickers at fellow partygoers as she grappled with Doug on the dancefloor.
After filming Paris, 28, perform a sexy dance, besotted Doug, 23, pulled his girlfriend onto his lap for a very public kissing session.
The couple, who have been dating for three months, couldn’t keep their hands off each other at the VIP Rooms club on the French Riviera.
Earlier that night, the couple put on another display of public affection as they enjoyed a spot of tonsil-tennis in full view of the hundreds of revellers.
The bash was held in honour of Paris to celebrate the sale of her documentary Paris, Not France, which she has been touting around the festival this week.
After attending the premiere of Quentin Tarantino’s film Inglourious Basterds in a chic silver strapless gown earlier that evening, Paris briefly popped back to her room at the Hotel Du Cap to change into something more nightclub friendly.
While baseball star Doug remained in his black suit – but lost the tie for a more casual look – Paris went for an all-gold ensemble in a sequinned mini-dress and matching accessories.
Complementing her golden tan, which she has picked up from sunbathing by the pool all day, Paris went for a platitude of gold, including clutch bag, necklace, bracelet, shoes and a headband – all presumably from her new accessories line.
While in previous nights Paris has been spotting partying with the likes of Penelope Cruz, Dita Von Teese and Peaches Geldof, the socialite appeared to be the only celebrity in attendance on Wednesday night.
Since arriving on the French Riviera at the weekend, Paris has been out every night and regularly ended up at the VIP Rooms.
However, her reason for choosing VIP Rooms may have financial motivation.
The New York Post reports VIP Rooms is the only club in Cannes who agreed to pay her to attend.
Paris makes a lot of her multi-million dollar fortune by charging for public appearances at nightclubs across the world.
One event planner said Paris’s representatives had been offering her attendance for $100,000, but a majority of organisers weren’t interested.
An organiser told the Post’s PageSix column: ‘No one bit. They aren’t about to pay her. It’s not 2002.
‘We think she got some money from the club VIP, but everyone else is running for the hills.’
Writing on her Twitter micro-blogging site last night, Paris enthused: ‘At my party at Club VIP! So amaazinggggg!!!! Huuuugeee.
‘Having the best time with the Sexiest Man on Earth! Loves it! 
Huge!!!!!!’
Earlier that evening, Paris and Doug posed on the same red carpet at Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at the screening of Quentin Tarantino’s new film Inglourious Basterds.
The film is the hottest ticket at this year’s festival and it appears Paris was quite taken with it.
She said: ‘Just got out of the premiere of Quentin Tarantino’s new movie Inglourious Basterds. It was invredible (sic). One of the best movies I’ve seen! .’
Equally enthusiastic was boyfriend Doug, who also described the film as ‘best movie I have ever seen’.
Writing about Paris on his Twitter page this week, Doug gushed: ‘Sooo in love with my Princess Paris.
‘She’s my angel, my love, my other half and best friend. I never knew a love like this could exist….
‘I am so in love with my beautiful Princess Paris, the most incredible, amazing, drop dead gorgeous girl that’s ever lived.’
During her few days at the festival, Paris has struck up a friendship with fellow socialite Peaches and has been spotted partying with the English rock offspring on several occasions.
After swapping mobile numbers, Paris said: ‘Peaches is such a sweetie. I can’t wait to bring my bling to London where she’ll be just perfect to model it with me.’

She has a body to make women half her age green with envy.
Yet unlike so many of her contemporaries, Marie Helvin’s youthful looks owe nothing to the cosmetic surgeon’s knife – or even to the wonders of Botox.
Instead, the 56-year-old says the secrets of her success are simply soap, water and lashings of moisturiser.
The supermodel, who is single, said: ‘Whatever I use on my face I take right down [to my cleavage]. They’re my best asset. Not that anyone really sees them any more. But I do.’
Of course, good genes are also important, as Miss Helvin – who had a Japanese mother and American father – readily admits.
‘My mother always said that Japanese women look youthful for years and then one morning they wake up and they’ve aged like 100 years,’ she said in an interview with The Times.
‘And she’s right. It happened to her when she was 79.’
Miss Helvin, who is the face of a Marks & Spencer clothing range for over-45s, said her regime means there is no need for images of her to be airbrushed, either.
‘I don’t like it when I see magazine photographs of me that have been retouched because I think I look better now than I did when I was in my 40s.’
