Kate Moss insists she was joking when she stormed out of the GQ Men of the Year Awards last week.
The supermodel – who was caught on camera shouting expletives after reportedly taking offence to a joke made about her by actor James Nesbitt – claims she and pal Lily Allen had already planned to leave early and was just showcasing her “quirky sense of humour”.
A source said: “Kate was messing around when she pretended to storm out. She was winding James up about his smutty remark. They’ve been pals for years.
“Kate and Lily had already decided to leave the bash straight after dinner and head back to their hotel suite for a party.”
Backstage at the awards, Kate also interrupted an interview with rapper Dizzee Rascal, claiming she had lost her lipstick.
The source added to Britain’s Daily Star newspaper: “Kate has a wicked sense of humour. She wanted to wind Dizzee up by butting in and pretending she’d lost her lipstick.
“Come on, as if Kate cares! She has thousands of lipsticks.
“People don’t realise she loves taking the p**s and isn’t afraid to laugh at herself. She doesn’t take life that seriously.”

Reports that Brazilian beauty Gisele Bundchen and her husband Tom Brady are expecting a baby have been circulating since February.
But fans needn’t wonder anymore because the American football player has confirmed the couple’s baby is due in December.
Speaking during an interview on sports channel ESPN, the 32-year-old talked of the couple’s excitement at the arrival of their first child together.
And although he’s looking forward to the birth, 32-year-old Tom has already laid down some conditions when it comes to his duties.
On attending anti-natal classes, Tom jokes: “I told (Gisele) no Sundays.”
“The women are the ones who have to do the work,” he says. “We just have to be there to support them and so it’ll be nice to do that.”
The little bundle of joy will be a second child for Tom, who is already father to two-year-old John Edward Thomas with ex-girlfriend, Sex And The City actress Bridget Moynahan.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Cindy Crawford’s announcement that she has a recipe to keep husbands from cheating on their wives has created quite a buzz in Washington, D.C., said a source.
The supermodel claimed that hiring a housekeeper “give[s] overworked wives more time to keep their partners satisfied.”The catwalk queen admitted that “it takes a lot to keep the passion in a relationship alive,” and insisted that finding another woman to take care of household chores allows the wife more time to “satisfy her husband’s carnal desires.”
She added, “It’s probably a lot less expensive to hire a housekeeper for your wife, and she might want to have sex with you more – instead of paying the prostitute… if you can afford a prostitute, you can afford a housekeeper.”
Many members of Congress on both sides of the aisle praised the supermodel’s line of reasoning, adding that hiring a housekeeper “gives overworked husbands more potential partners to keep themselves satisfied.”
They admitted that Cindy had a point about it taking a lot to keep the passion alive when you’re in a relationship, and said that finding another woman who will not only take care of household chores, but give you a little something extra on the side, can be just the spark you need.
Congressional members praised Cindy’s skillful accounting abilities, demonstrated by her careful cost-benefit analysis concerning the employment of housekeepers versus prostitutes, and indicated they wanted to get the iconic fashion figure into a new position – as Secretary of Congress.
Cindy reportedly said, “Sorry, guys, but I’ve got way too much going for me to fetch coffee for a bunch of adulterous losers.”
