Campbell planning long runway career

Naomi_CampbellNaomi Campbell wants to be a model until she’s in her 60s.
The 39-year-old supermodel has been strutting down catwalks since she was 14, and plans to keep working in the fashion industry for another 25 years.
She said: “Next year, I’m celebrating 25 years in fashion – and here’s to another 25! Personally, I’m very happy and look forward to sharing many more special moments in this industry with my loved ones.”
Naomi’s modelling career has made her millions, but she is even more excited about being a positive role model for black women everywhere.
She explained to Britain’s Hello! magazine: “I do find it incredibly important to be a representative of women of colour in fashion. There aren’t enough of us and never have been. There’s much more work we all need to do.”
The model – who has been accused of physically attacking several of her employees, and served community service for assaulting a police officer in 2008 – also insisted she is not a mean as her reputation suggests.
Naomi said: “There are lots of perceptions about me, but I simply cannot focus on what everyone may think or may not think. I have to be true to myself. My friends will often say, ‘You’re so different from what people may think’.
“We all have different sides to our personalities and some aren’t always revealed on the surface.”

Bar Refaeli criticised by fellow catwalk queen over draft-dodging

bar_rafaeli
Bar Refaeli
has been slammed by fellow Israeli supermodel Esti Ginzburg over her decision to dodge compulsory national service.
The 24-year-old was previously criticised by a retired general for her reluctance to serve and be drafted into the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
And now, the former girlfriend of Leonardo DiCaprio has evoked fury from 19-year-old Ginzburg who believes the conscription was her duty.
“In order to contribute and help, in order to be part of the state, enlisting is a duty, not a choice,” the Independent quoted Ginzburg as telling an Israeli newspaper.
“There are a million things I don’t feel like doing, but I do them because I have to. Military service is part of the things I believe in, the values I was raised on,” she added.
Refaeli told a US magazine last year: “I really wanted to serve in the IDF, but I don’t regret not enlisting, because it paid off big time. That’s just the way it is; celebrities have other needs.”

Kate Moss makes a boob at Yves Saint Laurent show

kate_moss
Kate Moss
decided that less was more as she nipped out with boyfriend Jamie Hince to watch the Yves Saint Laurent show at Paris Fashion Week.
With all eyes on designer Stefano Pilati’s spring/summer 2010 collection, the supermodel – who’s the current face of YSL – attracted attention for very different reasons by wearing a see-through black top and no bra.
It’s not the first time that Moss has treated Pilati to a view of her chest after she holidayed with the designer earlier this summer and sunbathed topless on their yacht.
The couple sat holding hands in the front row alongside a bevy of famous faces, including Prince, Claudia Schiffer, Katy Perry and Rihanna. The collection was mostly made up of sober minimalist clothing in black, white and grey pieces, with the occasional splash of pink, blue and beige.
Pilati, an Italian whose tailoring has won him critical acclaim at the Paris label, showed off his playful streak with strawberry prints, frills, black ribbons and a white spotty off-the-shoulder dress.

Carla Bruni admits she is locked in a never-ending First Lady ‘beauty contest’

Carla_BruniCarla Bruni today admitted she is locked in a never-ending ‘beauty contest’ with other First Ladies around the world.
The 41-year-old uses her new official website to further her image as an international sex symbol, with a gushing personal profile describing her as someone with a ‘romantic destiny’ who has to ‘face history with a cool head and a smile on her lips.’
But, despite a biography which includes details about friction with former wives of her new husband President Nicolas Sarkozy, there is no mention whatsoever of her young son, Aurelien.
Instead, millions across the world who were today logging on to the unique site for the first time, can read extensively about the former supermodel’s good looks.
While referring to America’s Michelle Obama and Princess Letizia of Spain as her chief rivals in the beauty stakes, Ms Bruni makes only a couple of passing references to Britain’s Sarah Brown.
Indeed a posting on the site recalls a visit to Madrid in April, ‘which was once more an opportunity to compare the styles of First Ladies’.
It continues: ‘As with Michelle Obama, it is a beauty contest between Princess Letizia, a former star journalist, and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, ex-top model.
‘From their Louboutin shoes to their Azzedine Ala?a dresses, the essentials are all there.’
Referring to a head-to-head between Ms Bruni and Mrs Obama in northern France a couple of months later, the site reads: ‘On June 6, 2009, the two First Ladies met again for the celebration of the 65th anniversary of the Normandy landings, both dressed in white.’
A sentence which may or may not be ironic reads: ‘According to Vanity Fair Michelle Obama is one of the world’s ten best-dressed women’.
Other entries in the site make it clear that Ms Bruni frequently tops such polls.
Another far from modest posting about the American photographer Annie Leibovitz reads: ‘In 2008, the woman who has 142 Rolling Stone covers to her name unveiled Carla Bruni-Sarkozy on the front page of Vanity Fair: riding boots and jodhpurs in front of the Elysee Palace tapestries. “The New Jackie O?” asks the headline.’
After the reference to Jackie Onassis, the late hugely glamorous wife of assassinated U.S. head of state John F Kennedy, the website says of Ms Bruni: ‘As Diana the hunter or in a red sheath dress on the roof of the Elysee Palace, the President’s wife yields to the eye of the photographer, who has always regretted not being able to immortalize Queen Elizabeth II in a garden full of flowers.’
Despite such romantic language, there is an entry about the charity work of Sarah Brown, who turns 46 this month, and nothing about her looks or fashion sense.
References to Mr Sarkozy, whom Ms Bruni tweely nicknames ‘Monmari’ as in ‘Myhusband’, include the fact that ‘he is a subject of media fascination.’
Ms Bruni makes no mention of her long list of former famous lovers, including English rock stars Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton, and former French Socialist Prime Minister Laurent Fabius.
More surprisingly, Aurelien, her nine-year-old son with philosophy professor Raphael Enthoven, is completely written out of her life story too. Many in France have commented on how Ms Bruni is never pictured with the boy, and never mentions him.
This is despite the fact that she attended a recent global summit in New York with Mr Sarkozy’s youngest son, Louis, 12.
Ms Bruni’s official website also includes an entry about Louis’s mother, Mr Sarkozy’s second wife, Cecilia.
In it, Ms Bruni refutes much publicised claims that, on the eve of her wedding to Mr Sarkozy last year, the President sent Cecilia a text message saying: ‘If you come back I’ll call the whole thing off.’
Ms Bruni’s new website, www.carlabrunisarkozy.org, crashed within a few minutes of its launch on Monday because tens of thousands of people tried to log on at once, but today it appeared to be working normally.
