Alessandra Ambrosio Is A Velvet Vixen

Alessandra_AmbrosioAlessandra Ambrosio launches Velvet: The Fragrance by VS Beauty at Victoria’s Secret, Lexington Avenue on Wednesday (October 14) in New York City.
The 28-year-old supermodel promoted Velvet, a lingerie-inspired fragrance, by signing autographs for shoppers. If they were one of the first to purchase an item from the Parfums Intimes Velvet line they got an autograph from Alessandra or a makeover from the VS Makeup Supermodel team.
Alessandra noted that to accompany the fragrance there is a body lotion, a fragrance mist and a shimmer fragrance powder, so you can really layer on the scent to ensure that it lasts all day long.

Heidi Klum’s Body-After-Baby Plan? Take It Easy

heidi_klumSure, Heidi Klum knows what to do to get back in to shape fast after having a baby. She even walked the runway for the Victoria’s Secret fashion show less than two months after having son Henry in 2005.
But this year, the supermodel told PEOPLE last month, she’s taking it easy.
“I don’t know if I’m going to try to get ready for the show,” Klum, 36, told PEOPLE before the arrival of her and husband Seal’s daughter Lou on Sept. 9. “I’m going totally play it by ear and see what happens.”
The supermodel, who said she continued eating a clean diet light on carbs throughout her pregnancy, joins fellow Victoria’s Secret angels Karolina Kurkova and Adriana Lima, who are also expecting, on the sidelines this year. The show takes place in New York City in November.
And though she has been known to turn it around quickly, even putting in twice daily workouts with trainer David Kirsch to lose the weight in 2005, Klum says there’s no pressure to get ready this time around.
“[Victoria's Secret] knows that it’s very close after [my due date], and they are not putting any pressure on me, and I’m not putting any pressure on myself!” she said. “It’s not a lot of time [to get back in shape]. I think I’m going to take it a little bit easy.”
“The most important thing is for our little girl to be happy and healthy,” Klum added. “That’s the main concern and we’ll see what happens after that.”

‘Blacked Up’ Model Lands Vogue In Trouble

laLara_Stone
Top fashion magazine Vogue has been criticised after publishing pictures of a white model painted black. Dutch supermodel Lara Stone’s face and body were plastered in dark brown make up in this month’s French Vogue, alongside other shots showing her as white.
The text alongside the pictures make no reference to why the model, 25, has been made up the way she has.
A brief introduction to the feature merely says she has a “sense of humour”.
US website Jezebel branded the magazine’s editor Carine Roitfeld and photographer Steven Klein as “culturally insensitive” for publishing the pictures.
The website said: “What Klein and Roitfeld should know is that painting white people black for the entertainment of other white people is offensive in ways that stand entirely apart from cultural context.
“France and Australia may not have the United States’ particular history of minstrel shows but something about the act of portraying a white woman as black ought to sound an alarm, somewhere.”
SOS Racisme, a french anti-racist group, said that the pictures were “tactless”.
The group’s president, Dominic Sopo said: “If the aim was artistic and not to pass off the model as a black girl, the fact that it produces such reactions shows that the world of images – advertising, fashion, whatever – is now paying for its long tradition of not allowing black people to show their bodies in public.”
French Vogue said it was unaware that it had caused any offence.

Cindy Crawford and Clooney’s girl Elisabetta Canalis are two of a kind at Fantastic Mr Fox premiere

Cindy_CrawfordThere is more than a decade between them, but Cindy Crawford and Elisabetta Canalis both have the same idea when it comes to dressing for the red carpet.
The brunettes each chose black floor-length gowns for the Fantastic Mr Fox premiere on the opening night of the London Film Festival.
Their matching dresses were slashed to the waist on the right, displaying the long slender limbs of their wearers. And the two even accessorised in a similar way, with black square clutches and high heels.
Italian TV presenter Elisabetta, 31, was accompanying her boyfriend George Clooney, who voices the lead character in the animated movie.
The 48-year-old is a close friend of supermodel Cindy, 43.
Joing them at the premiere were Sophie Dahl and Jamie Cullum. Model Sophie wore white ballet pumps with her red dress, while singer Jamie stuck to a sober suit.
Sophie is the grand-daughter of Roald Dahl, who wrote the classic children’s story upon which the film is based.
Her grandmother Felicity, Roald’s widow, arrived arm in arm with director Wes Craven.
British actress Thandie Newton brought her children – nine-year-old Ripley and four-year-old Nico – to watch the film.
Clooney hogged the limelight after his co-star, Meryl Streep, bowed out due to illness.
‘It’s great to be here and we have a bunch of films on show,’ Clooney said of the festival, which has three of his films in its programme.
He also signed autographs for fans, who had gathered at the film’s world premiere – issuing a safety warning to some.
Sophie Chapman, 19, from London, said: ‘George Clooney said “Please don’t push because the barriers will fall over and you’ll all fall on top of me”.’
Sandra Hebron, director of the Times BFI 53rd London Film Festival, defended the decision to open the event with an animation.
She said: ‘It’s absolutely no risk at all. The film is animated, but that simply adds to its charm.
‘It’s a story which lots of people have grown up with and love. I think Wes Anderson has brought his own vision to the film (and) it has a really great cast.’
Bill Murray, who voices Badger in the film, wore a trilby hat and pink bow tie to step out on the red carpet.
‘If you like stop-animation like Wallace and Gromit and Chicken Run, then you’ll love it,’ he said.
Jason Schwartzman, who voices Fantastic Mr Fox’s son, Ash, said he loved working alongside Clooney.
‘It was an honour. He’s an incredible combination of professionalism and relaxation and humour, so it’s nice,’ he said.
The film is released on October 23.
