We hate government bailouts around here, but if swimsuit supermodel Marisa Miller is going to start delivering the morning newspaper via a string bikini, we’re fairly certain we can make some room in our heart for a little taxpayer-funded relief of America’s struggling Fourth Estate.
Hell, we might even learn to read!
In addition to providing “hope” and “change we can believe in,” feeding the lecherousness of founding editor is actually one of the core functions of government, people.
It’s in article “Bo-oy-oing,” Section LXIX of the U.S. Constitution, in fact.
Anyway, Sic’s affinity for freckles, responsible government and well-placed earned media have finally collided, people.

Stepping out for an evening on the town, Alessandra Ambrosio was spotted hitting up a new West Hollywood nightclub called Voyeur last night (October 15).
The Victoria’s Secret stunner looked to have had too much to drink as she stumbled out of the club and signed a few autographs before practically falling into her chauffeured car. But what really raised eyebrows was when Alessandra gave the paparazzi and fans a shot of her derriere as she bent over into the SUV and her dress hiked up a bit.
Earlier in the night, a much more sober Miss Ambrosio walked the red carpet at Los Premios MTV 2009 at the Gibson Amphitheatre.

Supermodel Gisele Bundchen has gone into contract on her penthouse in New York’s West Village. The latest listing price of $4.5 million was less than half the original, September 2007 price tag.
It couldn’t be learned who has agreed to buy, or at what price. The Brazilian first listed the two-bedroom triplex for $10.9 million, eventually took it off the market, changed brokers and relisted in September with Raphael De Niro of Prudential Douglas Elliman. Last month, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said he and Ms. Bundchen are expecting their first child.
Ms. Bündchen bought the 1,700-square-foot condominium unit in 2002 for nearly $3 million, records show. The two-bedroom, two-bath condo has a wraparound terrace, deck with a jacuzzi and views of the Hudson River. Ms. Bündchen’s nearby townhouse, also represented by Mr. De Niro, remains on the market for $13.95 million. Her manager declined to comment.

Kate Moss makes her TV debut this week, adding a touch of supermodel style to her hairdresser friend James Brown’s E4 reality show about his new salon.
And if the 35-year-old gets her way, this will be the start of a whole new line of work for her.
Kate has grand plans to ditch modelling for a career on the small screen. It’s a decision that’s been forced on her as she struggles to come to terms with the fact that her body’s finally showing signs of ageing.
‘Retirement is a big taboo for Kate,’ says our source.
‘She refuses to discuss it with even her closest friends, but she knows in her heart that she can’t go on forever. She’s already reducing her catwalk work and won’t do any photo shoots without being airbrushed.
‘She’s now looking at alternative careers, with TV being favourite, along with getting more involved in fashion design and her own clothing range.
‘Kate needs an exit strategy from modelling, but whatever she does will still be tied to
the industry because it’s too profitable for her to walk away. She can count on support from Topshop owner Philip Green, who could open all sorts of doors to her, and Simon Cowell, who’d love to do a reality series based on fashion.’

German supermodel Heidi Klum has revealed she doubts she will try for another child in the future because she is already so busy raising four children.
The model-turned-TV star gave birth to baby girl Lou Samuel Oct 9 and she now admits the latest little addition to their family will most likely be their last, reports starpulse.com.
“I think that it’s a wonderful experience to be pregnant, definitely, but you have to look at what you can do, and four children is a lot! It’s a big family,” she said.

Cindy Crawford would rather be shot than make a regular return to catwalk modelling.
The supermodel – who made her name in the 1990s – has no desire to appear on the runway again, unless it was for charity, as she is too busy concentrating on her skincare and homeware ranges.
When asked if she would make a catwalk comeback, the 43-year-old beauty said: “Oh God! Shoot me, no!
“I love the dress-up part of modelling and, once in a while, I will do a photo shoot or a catwalk show for charity. I work a lot in the US – I have a homewares label with JC Penneys and my own skincare line and, these days, I enjoy going to the marketing meetings and the production meetings and being a part of the whole process; using my brain.”
The mother-of-two also put her youthful looks down to taking care of herself.
She said: “I don’t do any one thing in particular. But I don’t drink or smoke and tend to exercise frequently. It’s never just doing one thing that keeps you fit or youthful. You have to combine lots of things.”

If you want a trend doing properly, ask a supermodel. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley showed us once and for all last night why a fantastic white shirt is the ultimate wardrobe staple.
We love the billowing, ruffled blouse, tucked into skinny jeans it looks just a bit new romantic (but in a good way). The dressy clutch, sparkly belt and earrings inject just enough glamour into the outfit for a night out at Nobu – could Rosie be our new style icon for 2010?

Pretty Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr has become famous for her girl next door looks and slim but curvaceous figure.
But it seems her ambition to make the usually impossible leap from commercial modelling to fairytale world of couture has seen her dramatically drop weight to make the transition.
The former Maybelline model – the world’s tenth highest earning model – has been much in demand for the lingerie brand, and for swimwear shoots for magazines such as Sports Illustrated.
But the 26-year-old Australian cut a distinctly emaciated on a fashion shoot for magazine Grazia in Sydney.
From the back she looked virtually unrecognisable as she posed in a tightly laced corset on the rooftop of the Museum of Contemporary Art.
Miranda’s ribs protruded, and her skin was tightly stretched across her bony back. Her thin arms also looked extremely sinewy.

The reason for the Australian’s sudden weight loss is not exactly hard to fathom.
It seems her ambitions to do high fashion modelling were realised earlier this month she made an appearance on the catwalk for Balenciaga, the fashion world’s coolest label right now.
The model’s girl next door look was erased and she was unrecognisable in straightened slicked back hair and heavy catwalk eye make up.
Fashion is renown for its snobbery, comes to the world of ready-to-wear catwalk presentations.
And it’s an achievement almost unheard of for a Victoria’s Secrets model.
Previously the only model to cross over from the world of Sports Illustrated man-friendly modelling to high-end catwalk shows was Brazilian bombshell Gisele Bundchen.
The division between the two worlds of modelling is so stark, Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld once dismissed fellow German Heidi Klum as ‘bling bling’ , deeming her more ‘mannequin than model’.
He said: ‘It may be ‘Victoria’s Secret’, but it is not my secret.’
And designer Wolfgang Joop also said of Klum is ‘too heavy and has too big a bust. And she always grins so stupidly. That is not avant-garde – that is commercial.’
So it was certainly something of a surprise to see Miranda turn up on the Paris catwalk.
The model who dates actor Orlando Bloom is known for her success in the business.
She has multiple contracts as the face of Clinique’s perfume Happy, Australian department store David Jones (Australia’s Selfridges), and is launching an organic skincare line called Kora in October in Australia.
Grazia’s Beauty Director Annabel Jones says Kerr’s Balenciaga says Miranda’s casting is a sign that things are changing in fashion: ‘She’s quite cool and glossy, but still cute and accessible.
‘Maybe what we’re seeing is a new type of runway model.’
Or maybe it shows that not much has changed in the modelling world at all.

First the Ralph Lauren types etch away at the poor girls waist for an Asian campaign. Then they etch away at her confidence by firing her for forcing them to etch her away in the first place. Apparently Filipa Hamilton is too fat . Yes, yes, nobody said the fashion industry was a bed of roses. In fact this is my favorite quote of the day from the Daily Beast’s Elizabeth Gates.
“Fashion isn’t about fairness. It isn’t about being polite, kind, sweet natured or well behaved. Fashion is vicious and cut throat—and if you really love it (and want to succeed) it can be downright maddening. To be perfectly honest, I myself am often “too nice” to be taken seriously in this industry. Kindness has no place here—and believe me, a little racism isn’t affecting anyone who might hire a fashion hopeful (or fire one the next day). Fashion doesn’t care if you’re anorexic, bulimic or if you are 12 years old from a farm in Oregon without any idea about “child labor laws”—and it certainly doesn’t care about black history. I accepted that fact years ago. Fashion has no moral code.”
So tough luck Filipa, its waist away for you.
