Security fears for Miranda Kerr

Miranda_KerrSupermodel Miranda Kerr was under heavy guard yesterday after threats were made against the Aussie stunner during a promotional event. Fears for Kerr’s safety were sparked after a man allegedly made threats against the 26-year-old and her Hollywood star boyfriend Orlando Bloom.
The Victoria Secrets model was flanked by security guards yesterday during a fundraising appearance for Kids Help Line in Rocklea, in Brisbane’s southwest – an event organised by her mother Therese, The Daily Telegraph reports.
It is understood a threat, made by an unknown Queensland man, had earlier been directed at both Kerr and Bloom.
A police spokesman would not confirm if an official complaint on Kerr’s behalf had been made. Appearing relaxed, Kerr spent several hours at the charity day and took to the stage on several occasions under the close watch of two personal bodyguards and several privately-contracted security staff.
Security surrounding the event was tight, with guests required to enter through a manned gate before proceeding through a bag-check area.
Bloom was rumoured to be in Brisbane with his long-time girlfriend but during her appearance yesterday Kerr told the crowd the Pirates Of The Caribbean star was in Dubai and that she was preparing to fly back to the US where she is now based.
Kerr was due to fly out last night.
A representative for the supermodel was reluctant to discuss the security matter.
Earlier in the day Kerr spoke about her whirlwind trip to Australia and her appearance at the charity day organised by her mother who helps fundraise for the Boys Town charity Kids Help Line.
“It seemed like a really good thing to do and I wanted to come along and support it,” Kerr said.
The model also hit out at a recent article published in the UK’s Daily Mail which suggested she was underweight and suffering an eating disorder.
The paper had seized on pictures of Kerr during a photo shoot in Sydney for Grazia magazine, slamming her as “shockingly thin” and “emaciated”.
“I’m not anorexic,” Kerr said yesterday.
“I have been the same weight for three years. I feel really passionately about health and nutrition.”
A day earlier, dressed in an Alex Perry beige silk dress, Kerr cut a glamorous figure at the Caulfield Cup in Melbourne.

Abigail Clancy ends up worse for wear as she leads Spurs players and their WAGS in a post-match bender

Abigail_ClancyAbigail Clancy was the life and soul of the party last night as she led Tottenham Hotspurs players and their WAGS on a celebratory night out.
The Liverpudlian model looked a tad worse for wear as she stumbled out of the Movida nightclub at 3.30am this morning after spending the night toasting Spurs 2-1 win against Portsmouth.
Wearing a tiny white mini-dress and platform sandals, the 23-year-old looked dishevelled and tired as she got into her waiting car.
But once inside the vehicle, it seemed she got a second wind and was seen standing up in the open sun roof and dancing to the music in the car.
Clancy and her fiancé Peter Crouch started the post-match festivities off with dinner at Nobu Berkeley restaurant with his Spurs teammates Jermaine Jenas and Robbie Keane.
After their civilised Japanese dinner in Mayfair, the players and their WAGs moved on to Movida in nearby Soho to party until the early hours.
Abbey started the night off looking bright-eyed and immaculate as she proudly stood at her fiance’s side after the team’s win.
But by the early hours of this morning, the model’s blonde hair was left looking dishevelled and messy, presumably after showing her moves on the dancefloor.
The goal celebrations meant Abbey missed out on her favourite TV show The X Factor.
The model has spoken of her love for the programme and hopes Olly Murs or Joe McElderry win this year.
Abbey recently said she hates being called a WAG: ‘I have a career. That term does my head in.’
While fellow England WAG Coleen Rooney, who is the same age as Abbey, is expecting her first child any day now, Abbey insists she is too young to get pregnant.
She said: ‘I love kids, but I’m only 23.’
Notably absent from the proceedings was Jermain Defoe, whose performance in the game yesterday was bittersweet.
Despite scoring a goal in the 45th minute, he was sent off in the second half after stamping on the shin of Portsmouth captain Aaron Mokoena.
Spurs manager Harry Redknapp admitted he was ‘disappointed’ Defoe had lost his temper: ‘I said to him at half-time: “Don’t retaliate if you get fouled.”‘
Midfielder Jenas, 26, brought his model fiancée Ellie Penfold out for the proceedings.
The part-time model, who accepted Jenas’s proposal in Cannes in August, showed off her ample curves in a low-cut black bandeau mini dress.
The couple recently celebrated their engagement with a star-studded party and hired American rapper Nelly to perform.
Also joining party animals Abbey and Peter at Movida was striker Robbie and his wife Claudine.
Robbie, 29, rejoined Spurs in February after a brief sojourn to Liverpool.
The couple’s night out comes five months after former Miss Ireland contestant Claudine, 25, gave birth to their first child Robert Ronan.
Also out at Movida last night was former The Bill and EastEnders actress Louisa Lytton.
The babyfaced actress, 20, was wearing a little black dress as she partied with a mystery male companion.

tyra_banksSupermodel Tyra Banks has flaunted her newly slimmed down body in a sexy photo shoot on the streets of New York.
The America’s Next Top Model hostess has dropped down from size 16 outfits to size 8 thanks to a steady diet and consistent exercise.
“I always feel great when I don’t have clothes on. When I told the world to kiss my fat a**, I remained that size for two years,” the Sun quoted her as saying.
The hottie said that she had become fat eating ice creams and bacons.
“I maintained it with my ice cream and my salad with ranch and dressing and croutons and bacon bits,” she said.

Copy-cat syndrome

Kate_MossThere are two things I want to discuss this week, mainly because the end result is the same.
The first: Is imitation really the sincerest form of flattery? The second: When does copying become stalking?
Question one is not easy to answer. Celebrities use imitation to gauge their popularity, and more than a few – such as Kate Moss – have turned their much-imitated personal style into clothing lines and profited from them.
Very few people will actually say they find copy-cats annoying. A close friend of mine wasn’t sure what to think recently when some friends told her that a clone of her was seen at a function. While she is not a celebrity, she is frequently photographed and the offender was said to be a fan of hers.
Fan or not, my friend still felt invaded, and is hovering between being flattered and enraged.
“There’s a fine line between what is flattering and what invades your sense of identity and privacy,” she said.
No one in her right mind would really want to be the doppelganger of someone else, though in extreme cases there have been some of those.
But when someone is going about her own private life, albeit a slightly more high profile one than most people’s, imagine how she would feel if someone is dressed in an exact copy of her outfit – that was specially designed – and in the same colour!
Short of staying home and not allowing photographs to be taken, there is nothing one can really do if someone wants to copy one’s style.
There’s nothing wrong with admiring someone’s personal style, but it would be better if it was adapted to suit one’s own tastes and body shape.
Which leads me to my second point.
Another friend said, “There’s a difference between copying and stalking.”
Stalkers used to be people who managed, through persistence and effort, to find out someone’s daily routine. And you didn’t have to be famous to have a stalker.
Nowadays, people can stalk you even without actually following you. With pictures taken and uploaded in real time, the rules governing privacy seemed to have changed.
Should you ask permission before posting pictures of a private event? Are your privacy settings adjusted so that only certain people can see your photos?
If attending functions and events are part of your job, there is no way you will ever know exactly how many photos of you are floating in cyberspace.
If that is the case with public events, what about the private ones?
Not everyone is as enamoured with themselves or are narcisstic enough to want their photos seen by everyone. And there is an equal number of people who really don’t care because, they say, they have nothing to hide.
That may be the case, but there will be photos years later that they may not want people to see but by then it would be a bit too late, wouldn’t it?
The thing with these “public” photos is that you won’t realise people have seen them unless someone tells you. For a non-celebrity, it becomes unnerving when people know where you go, who you’re with and what you’re wearing. That’s kind of creepy, isn’t it? And considered an invasion of privacy.
That leads to cyber-stalking, and there isn’t much that one can do about it. You can’t stop copy clones and style snatchers, and you can’t stop people from knowing what you do and where you go.
This is the age of social media, identity theft, information overload and paparazzi frenemies. And your life becomes a virtual reality show, shaped by an unknown production team and watched and interpreted by an invisible audience.
That’s more scary than bumping into a clone of yourself, don’t you think?

I haven’t lost weight: Miranda Kerr hits back over claims she slimmed down for high fashion

Miranda_Kerr
She is famed for an enviable slim-yet-curvy shape, but when supermodel Miranda Kerr was pictured on a swimwear shoot in Sydney last week, onlookers were shocked by what appeared to be a dramatic weight loss.
Today, the 26-year-old, who dates British actor Orlando Bloom, spoke out after speculation that she had shed pounds in order to fit into the tiny sample-size clothes at the Balenciaga fashion show in Paris two weeks ago.
She blamed the poses she had been forced to adopt for the shots, and insisted that a healthy lifestyle was essential in order for her to meet the demands of her hectic lifestyle.
‘The exaggerated poses for the shoot have made me appear thinner than normal from behind, but I am the same weight and measurements I have maintained for more than three years,’ she told Grazia Australia.
‘I am conscious of not only maintaining but promoting a healthy lifestyle and I wouldn’t be able to sustain the hectic nature of my modelling commitments if I wasn’t 100 per cent committed to feeding my body the food, vitamins and minerals it needs.’
Mark Vassallo, who styled the shoot for the Australian edition of the weekly fashion title, echoed Miranda’s comments.
‘She’s as healthy as anything. High fashion models are a special breed. They have long legs and they’re very narrow through the body – that allows clothes to hang beautifully.
‘Miranda has no problem with her body at all.’
Miranda, who is set to publish a book on nutrition later this year, told how she follows a diet based on her blood type to stay in shape.
‘I know what works for me,’ she said. ‘Primarily I’m vegetarian, but I will eat a small amount of fish and chicken – and once in a blue moon I’ll have a steak.
‘I’m adaptable – if someone cooks for me I’m not going to say, “Oh no, I don’t eat that”. I believe you shouldn’t be so strict with yourself – life is about having fun and enjoying yourself but it’s also important to know what’s good for your body and what energises your body.’
But as she prepares for the launch of her own organic skincare line, Kora, in Australia next week, she did admit that her rising celebrity profile was beginning to take its toll.
‘I work six days a week, 15 hours a day – and that’s not a joke,’ she said.
‘I’m generally in two different countries a week. And anyone else who had my schedule would probably fall apart. To be honest with you, it’s really, really intense.
‘People don’t realise the extent of how hard I work, because they see it as just glitz and glamour. At the same time I am so grateful for it all, but it doesn’t give me a lot of downtime.’
Miranda explained how she does yoga every day, and meditates on planes, but is not the type of girl to go to the gym on her own.
‘When I’m in New York I have a trainer who I see a couple of times a week,’ she said.
‘I’m always running to the airport and carrying my luggage, so that’s kind of enough cardio for me.’
Even though she has worked for Victoria’s Secret, and done swimwear shoots for Sports Illustrated, she went on to admit that even she has body insecurities, but demonstrated a level-headed attitude to them.
‘As women, we can’t compare ourselves because we’re each beautiful in our own unique way.’
She added that she was passionate about encouraging young girls to embrace themselves.
‘I really don’t want girls to think they have to look like me. I want them to nurture themselves and really be the best they can be.’
