English supermodel Agyness Deyn is reported to be following the well-trodden path of modelling into movies. Whether or not she’ll be more successful than predecessors such as Elle Macpherson and Cindy Crawford remains to be seen.
Rumours from across the pond suggest that Deyn will co-star in a short film with fellow Brit Linus Roache, who has become a big hit Stateside thanks to his role in Law & Oder.
With both Deyn and Roache originally hailing from Lancashire, perhaps the story’s set ‘oop north’? The film will be directed by Peter McGough of New York-based McDermott & McGough art partnership.
According to PageSix.com, McGough was recently overheard at a saying that he’d be able to get sponsorship from Guerlain and Mikimoto – for whom Deyn campaigns – for the project.
However, we’re not holding our breath. This isn’t the first time that Deyn movie rumours have surfaced. In early summer 2008, she was reported to be starring with Jake ‘Son of Dustin’ Hoffman in a film – but that never materialised.
So, we shall wait and see. . .

The first time around, they claimed it was an isolated incident.
Then the second image of a Ralph Lauren model digitally altered to appear impossibly skinny emerged.
The clothing company is once again facing an outraged internet backlash after the image, featuring model Valentina Zeliaeva, appeared in a shop in Sydney, Australia.
Oddly, it also appears in two different versions on the Ralph Lauren website – one which appears to show the model as she actually is, without being significantly digitally altered.
In the retouched version, however, her head appears to be roughly the same size as her waist. Her hand appears almost as wide as her thigh, and her shoulders are significantly wider than her hips.
In the original version, Ms Zeliaeva’s pose wrinkles her sweater on her right side. In the digitally altered version some of the wrinkled material has been clumsily airbrushed out – and the wrinkles that are left gave viewers on PhotoshopDisaster.blogspot.com the impression of ribs poking out through the grey sweater.
Ralph Lauren has not yet commented on the image, but a response is expected this afternoon.
The bizarre image sparked outrage on the web, with commentators on PhotoshopDisasters.blogspot.com, where the image was posted, wondering ‘why they don’t just show their clothes on skeletons… or are those not skinny enough?’
Others were baffled at the idea that the image could be attractive, with some describing it as ‘alien’, ‘astounding’, and ‘ugly’.
‘I’m going to go eat a cookie. That pictures scares me,’ said one commentator.
The image is creating controversy just over a week after the row over an image of former Ralph Lauren model Filippa Hamilton that had been digitally retouched to make her head larger than her waist.
Ms Hamilton is said to be friendly with Ms Zeliaeva. The pair have appeared in Ralph Lauren ads together.
Russian-born Ms Zelayaeva, 27, first began modelling for Ralph Lauren in 2005, according to a New York Magazine profile.
She has appeared in British Vogue, among other publications, and in April, 2008 was named the world’s thirteenth-highest paid model by Forbes, having made $2.3million in the previous year.
The ad for Blue Label jeans featuring Ms Hamilton was run in a department store in Japan.
Ralph Lauren initially responded by accusing websites running the image – including PhotoshopDisasters.blogspot.com – of copyright infringement for reprinting the advertisement.
But another website running the image, Boing Boing, said it was protected by the ‘fair use’ provision, which allows photos to be reproduced ‘for purposes such as criticism, comment and news reporting’.
As the row over the image grew, Ralph Lauren apologised for its use.
A spokesman for Ralph Lauren said last night: ‘For over 42 years, we have built a brand based on quality and integrity.
‘After further investigation, we have learned that we are responsible for the poor imaging and retouching that resulted in a very distorted image of a woman’s body.
‘We have addressed the problem and going forward will take every precaution to ensure that the calibre of our artwork represents our brand appropriately.’
Ms Hamilton added to the controversy by claiming she had been fired from the label for being overweight.
The 23-year-old 5ft10in model, a size 8, said she had been told she was too large for their clothes.
Polo Ralph Lauren denied her claims, saying their relationship ended ‘as a result of her inability to meet the obligations under her contract’.
‘The image in question was mistakenly released and used in a department store in Japan and was not the approved image which ran in the U.S. We take full responsibility,’ the statement said.
‘This error has absolutely no connection to our relationship with Filippa Hamilton.’
American designer Ralph Lauren’s company Polo Ralph Lauren is one of the biggest retailers in the U.S., with revenues of ?2.6billion a year. The designer himself turns 70 this week.

The Jennifer Hawkins Wardrobe Malfunction was an embarrassing moment for Aussie stunner Jennifer Hawkins. Soon after being crowned Miss Universe in 2004, the model was doing an in-store runway show at Westfield Miranda mall in Australia when she accidentally stepped on the hem of her skirt. The skirt came right off, revealing Jennifer’s sexy red thong underwear. Hawkins quickly realizes the skirt is gone and gives a surprised skip and a jump as she hustles backstage. She later apologized for the incident, commenting that she wished she’d worn better underwear.
The incident was caught on camera and was later called “The most embarrassing moment ever shown on Australian television” by Australia’s Nine Network. Since her wardrobe malfunction, Jennifer Hawkins has enjoyed an illustrious modeling career. She is currently the spokesmodel for Australian department store Myer, and was one of the judges on Australia’s Make Me a Supermodel reality show in 2008.

Miranda Kerr has defended her weight, insisting photographs have been “exaggerated” to make her look thinner.
The Australian supermodel, who sparked health concerns after being pictured looking shockingly frail at a swimwear shoot last week, insists the poses she was forced to adopt for the photo shoot in Sydney distorted her frame.
She told Australia’s Grazia magazine: “The exaggerated poses for the shoot have made me appear thinner than normal from behind, but I am the same weight and measurements I have maintained for more than three years.
“I am conscious of not only maintaining but promoting a healthy lifestyle and I wouldn’t be able to sustain the hectic nature of my modelling commitments if I wasn’t 100 per cent committed to feeding my body the food, vitamins and minerals it needs.”
It was reported Miranda lost weight in a bid to fit into sample-size clothes at the Balenciaga fashion show in Paris, France, earlier this month.
Mark Vassallo, who styled the shoot for the weekly fashion magazine, has also lent his support to the 26-year-old beauty.
He said: “She’s as healthy as anything. High fashion models are a special breed. They have long legs and they’re very narrow through the body – that allows clothes to hang beautifully. Miranda has no problem with her body at all.”
Miranda has urged young girls not to feel under pressure to lose weight and hopes they can learn to love their bodies.
She explained: “I really don’t want girls to think they have to look like me. I want them to nurture themselves and really be the best they can be.”
