Next “top model”
Many models really have difficulties establishing themselves in the fashion world. It’s attractive because you are traveling a lot, wearing beautiful clothes and getting to meet new people.
The television shows about modeling, which were started by Tyra Banks, enjoy huge popularity of course. You get to know important people, are coached and trained, and at the end of the show, are named a “top model.”
Unfortunately, many shows – it doesn’t matter if it’s in Germany, America, Great Britain or Austria – only care about gaining high audience ratings. Former participants are hiding that they were a part of such a show.
Disputes between the girls, moanings, bad results of photoshoots are part of nearly every show. Also, the winners aren’t really supported afterwards.
It would be much better if they were really interested to have a girl who can really be successful and not just to have a another winner.
Surely a model can be successful if she’s just ambitious and self-confident enough. At least there are many models who do it without such a show, but for a girl without any experiences it seems to be easier to take part in it.
Nevertheless, it’s great to see good examples. Let’s take a look to Australia’s Next Top Model, hosted by Sarah Murdoch.
During the show, the girls receive really constructive criticism and tips about things they should improve. Of course, there are also moanings in some cycles, but the show itself is really qualitative.
Montana Cox was the winner of last cycle and really had a great start. Next to campaigns like David Jones, she also walked good shows in Milan and Paris, where she is represented by IMG.
She also remains connected to the judges after the show and this surely helps her too.
Alice Burdeu, winner of cycle 3, was also walking big shows, was the face of many brands and was featured on the cover of Vogue twice.
The most successful models out of the top model franchise are never the less surely; Suvi Koponen and Patricia van der Vliet.
Patricia from Holland is walking regularly at the most important Fashion Weeks, but recently, she has missed landing blue chip campaigns. By changing her hairstyle, perhaps she will have more success.
While Suvi from Norway really did it. She is still walking New York, London, Paris and Milan runways, and has also been the face of many top brands.
Last but not least, it really depends on you, on the right time and the people you give your trust to.
