Coco Rocha is crowned Miss Jean Paul Gaultier during designer’s last ready-to-wear show

Jean Paul Gaultier dropped the curtain on his ready-to-wear career on Saturday (September 27th), and the renowned French fashion designer celebrated his pret-a-porter farewell with a beauty pageant-themed spectacle during Paris Fashion Week.

Focusing mainly on his eponymous Haute Couture brand from now on, the sixty-two year-old clothesmaker’s final ready-to-wear show saw an array of mannequins take the stage at the French capital’s famous Rex Theater to strut their stuff in the Spring/Summer 2015 collection which paid tribute to Gaultier’s signature designs including marini?re stripes, pinstripe suits, cone-bra corset dresses and lucha libre costumes.

The make-believe beauty competition was hosted by British journalist Alex Taylor and Spanish actress Rossy de Palma, and concluded with the announcement and crowning of the new Miss Jean Paul Gaultier 2015 winner by former Miss France 2009 Chloe Mortaud.

Twenty-six year-old Canadian mannequin Coco Rocha playfully fainted upon being named the most beautiful woman of the night, with gold confetti pouring from the ceiling as Jean Paul Gaultier himself took the spotlight for a final bow amid roaring applause.

“Walking the @JPGaultier ready-to-wear runway for the very last time was certainly bitter sweet. #PFW #JPG,” the newly crowned Miss Jean Paul Gaultier 2015, Coco Rocha, said via her official Twitter account later that night regarding the the designer’s unfortunate decision of discontinuing his pret-a-porter collections after more than thirty years.
