Retiring Mohammed Fayed brings in supermodel Eva Herzigova to launch Harrods summer sale

Having sold Harrods to the Qatari royal family’s investment company, this is presumably the last time Mohammed Fayed will host the opening of the store’s annual summer sale.
And boy, the retailer certainly ensured he made the most of it as he put on a very touchy feely red carpet display with his star guest, leggy supermodel Eva Herzigova.
Fayed could barely contain his excitement as he wrapped his mitts around stunning Eva’s waist, sending her into a fit of giggles.

Wearing an on-trend strapless nude pink dress, the 37-year-old was all smiles as she strode up the waiting red carpet outside of the famous Knightsbridge mecca.
The Czech-born star arrived in a horse-drawn carriage, guided by two Harrods employees, dressed in the store’s traditional dress and green and gold colours.
She was then met by Mr Fayed for the photocall before giving a short welcome to waiting shoppers.
After 25 years at the helm of the store, the 77-year-old has sold his baby to the Qatari Investment Authority – reportedly for ?1.5billion.
The thought of retiring has clearly put the businessman is a good mood – he couldn’t stop smiling throughout the glamorous launch
But perhaps Eva’s revealing ensemble was the real reason behind the huge grin on his face.
Herzigova wasn’t the only celebrity drawn to the launch of the summer sale.
Rachel Weisz, Matthew McConaghey, Camila Alves, Morgan Freeman, Peaches Geldof and boyfriend Eli Roth were spotted front row at a fashion show organised by the store and Dolce Gabbana to celebrate its opening.
The Harrods sale will run from today until July 11.
