Helena Christensen launches breast cancer campaign

Helena ChristensenAccording to supermodel Helena Christensen who was in Ireland last week to launch the new Fashion Targets Breast Cancer campaign in Ireland, more women should “self check” for breast cancer.
Helena told Irish Medical Times that it was vital that women didn’t ignore any warning signs out of fear. “My doctor from an early age told me to touch myself around the breasts and under the armpits, and not feel weird about it! Especially when you’re young, you get a little bit intimidated by your body. It’s going through so many changes,” she said.
She urged women who felt worried to go to their doctor rather than leave it to chance. “I’ve always thought it’s better to go to the doctor one too many times than to postpone it,” she told IMT.
The fund raising campaign centres on the sale of a unique designer range of t-shirts, each with a distinctive bull’s eye logo. In Ireland, all t-shirts which cost €30 and €35 will be sold through the Brown Thomas group in aid of Action Breast Cancer (a project of the Irish Cancer Society) and Europa Donna Ireland to develop services for younger women with breast cancer.

Kate Moss stars in top-secret lingerie movie

Kate Moss, nudeSupermodel Kate Moss has recently completed work on a short movie directed by Mike Figgis. Conducted in conditions of extreme secrecy, the shoot, for lingerie company Agent Provocateur, took place last month in a private house in Mayfair; the movie will be marketed later this year as if it were an internet viral video.
Figgis also took 40 still photographs for the Agent Provocateur catalogue. The director, who had not worked with Moss before, told a friend: “I finally realise why people call her a supermodel. She is the only one and the best.”
Agent Provocateur’s owner, Vivienne Westwood’s son Joe Corre, would only hint at the nature of the forthcoming ad campaign. “Watch out for something in September that is huge,” he told me, “but top secret for now.” Figgis’s office, meanwhile, claimed to know nothing about the campaign.
Moss has also been splashing out on art, recently buying a sculpture called To Every Seed His Own Body by fine-art taxidermist Polly Morgan. Moss paid $7,000 for the piece - a stuffed blue-tit in a bell jar - and plans to use it to brighten up her Cotswolds home.
