Stop this absurdity! Luisel’s sister Eliana Ramos dies of malnutrition too!

February 14th, 2007

Eliana Ramos , died at 18 ...
An Uruguayan fashion model died from apparent malnutrition, just six months after her model elder sister also died from a heart failure caused by malnutrition, local reports said Wednesday.
The woman, identified as Eliana Ramos, 18, was found dead in her home in Montevideo by relatives, television channel Saeta reported. Eliana , who was also known as Elle Ramos, worked for Pancho Dotto Models, a renowned modeling agency in Argentina. Preliminary examinations indicated sudden death caused by malnutrition, the report said.
Friends confirmed that Eliana has suffered for many months after her sister, 22-year-old Luisel Ramos, died of heart failure in August while performing a catwalk show at a Montevideo hotel.
Her death sparked a new debate within the modelling industry over “0-sized” models. Other deaths of models have been reported in Brazil, most recently in November.

    Another senseless death….

You know, I gotta wonder how many overweight girls die every year and we never hear about it. This girl’s pictures do not make her look unhealthy. I’ll bet she and her sister both had congenital heart defects. BTW, I *do* believe *some* models are unhealthfully thin.

“I’ll bet she and her sister both had congenital heart defects.”

Both agitated by anorexia, no doubt.

“You know, I gotta wonder how many overweight girls die every year and we never hear about it.”

Overweight women, on average, live longer than thin ones.

Oh, excellent girl, you was such small and brittle, that she caved in under the gravity of the peace of business. I will remember about you.

The fashion world has really got a sick idea of beauty. Slim with some curves makes clothes and photos look so much more beautiful than size zero… I hope the BMI 18-rule will become mandatory as soon as possible and anyone telling a healthy, slim girl to lose weight will be punished.

This is so upsetting. :’( Must be so devastating for her poor family. I wait to see an end to these senseless deaths. Eliana should have tried to put on weight after what happened to her sister. And the ethics of tehse modelling agencies should be questioned. WE DON’T WANNA SEE ANOTHE ‘ANA’ DEATH.

    RIP Eliana and Luisel.

    WRONG PEOPLE!!!!
Thin gals and women are beautiful! Any girl with BMI over 19 does not look good. period.
The best bodies are between 16 and 18

NO, BMI 18 rule DOES NOT WORK. You have to be skinny to be beautiful!

  • 9. Axxon  |  February 21st, 2007 at 7:57 pm

JayT I think you meant IQ instead of BMI.
Obviously, for you, anyone with an IQ of more than 18 is ugly (too intelligent).

If you can´t wait to die, do it quick and shoot yourself.
    Kisses, A.

i dont want to say anything to affend his girl and her sister so firstly, R.I.P to both off them
but i think theyre rediculous. Trying to be size ‘nothing’ to be excepted is stupid especially as they cannot be excepted now
im a proud size 12 and if the modeling industry dont want me this way, they cant have me and its there lose.

Beauty is not in a paper thin size but in health and curves

    xXx

It’s not like she didn’t know what she was doing to herself. She saw what happened to her sister. Why didn’t anyone try to help her? But it is so sad.

Their fault what do u expect being a model

Beauty and attractivness varies in the observer; it’s all objective. To say ‘only girls with a bmi between 16-18′ is obsurd. The point I am trying to convey is why consider it on a purely physical basis? Does character not come into the equation? For example I know some very conventionally slim pretty girls who I do not find attractive. Why? Because like most pretty girls who get everything handed to them without effort, they are spiteful and nasty. Beauty and attractiveness is what one believes it to be. With that in mind, I think some sort of rule should prevent models from foolishly starving themselves to death.

    watch this Photo, it’s awful..

It has been fully proved by forensic researchers that Eliana and Luisel both had a heart disorder, a genetical problem, hence their passing away at so young an age. I´m Uruguayan and read the press every day.
I´m not against this subject being discussed, in fact I agree it´s a good thing that it happens, but please respect these two models, their families and friends, and even the agency they worked for, by means of reshaping the article and updating the information as to what the truth is known to be today.
    Thank you.

To imply that someone can only be beautiful if they are between a bmi of 16-18 is ludacris. Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes whether it be a size 12 or a size 0. The problem was not and is not whether or not these girls were beutiful, they obviously were. The problem lies in what price were they willing to pay to be what the jacka$$ above considers beatiful. Unfortunately their lives. We should all respect family in their time of grief, however, individual with congenital heart disease can live long fulfilling lives if they nourish their bodies and exercise and take early precautions to their inherited disease. I think it is tragic what has been happening and I myself always feel I need to lose that extra 5-20 pounds to be “beautiful,” but I don’t want my little nieces, or one day hopefully daughters to think that the only way they can be beautiful is if they put themselves in harms way.

  • 18. Sarah  |  May 20th, 2007 at 12:35 am

To the guy who said you have to be skinny to be beautiful – you’re wrong. Typical beauty for the majority of men worldwide is based on a healthy-looking girl, because someone who is healthy has more chance of giving offspring. Instinctively, and subconsciously, this is what men look for, generally, in women. You, on the other hand, are obviously a deluded sicko who deserves to be hung, drawn and quartered – people like you play a part in the deaths of these beautiful young girls. She died with a BMI like the ones you suggested – doesn’t that hint at the fact that maybe it’s not right? Or perhaps you like dead women?

To the girl who said that “She looks fine in the photo”… have you never HEARD of airbrushing? :/

It might be a genetic heart defect but surely starving herself didn’t help that and she would have had a longer, fuller life had she eaten properly and healthily.

you can still be beautiful without curves, and you can still have some curves as a size 0.

“Their fault what do u expect being a model”
Anorexia is a mental disease that may or MAY NOT have been due to being a model. She didn’t diet her way to death because of her career, she would have been extremely unhappy after her sisters death too.

RIP to both sisters and i hope their family is doing well.

“It might be a genetic heart defect but surely starving herself didn’t help that and she would have had a longer, fuller life had she eaten properly and healthily.”

Yes, but she had a disease, moron. She couldn’t do that herself.

For all this young girls who died ..I believe that those idiot agencies, designer and photographer have all responsibilities of them loose family. I can not even stand watching her father cried on TV..it is so wrong when most people want to make it seem to be right…and plus…I am sure in the future more young model will died in the same case..
Either Agency,Designer and photographer..you all making money so much out of those young model body….why don’t you learn to take some a little responsibilities of them loose!!!!!!! do something about it…..I believe that you all make enough money of the them young body poor life!

im happy she died..i wish all anorexic ultra thin models die because it’s what’s best for them, i eat like a pig and my bmi is still 17,5.. if you’re genetically thin then you can be a model..if not hey, dont starve yourself, there are other careers..since those models are stupid, they can be whores or something if they’re pretty..
ultra skinny people that do extreme diets should die..

I am a writer looking to write my first book. I want it to be about a subject that matters and is completely taboo. What could matter more than this. Could anyone tell me more about these two sisters?? I would love to write a book in honour of their memory and stop other girls / models endin up in the same situation.

  • 24. jeniabug  |  September 17th, 2008 at 6:53 pm

excuse me, but how many freakin 18 and 22 year olds die from just a damn heart attack? are you kidding me? No, being fat is not healthy and people do die from obesety, but for heaven’s sake, don’t do the complete opposite extreem and starve yourself! skeletons are not sexy, rather scary, and being 10 years old and weighing 150 pounds isnt right either. people always goto the extreem. besides, we all should just learn to be happy with who we are and screw what the media portrays as beautiful, cuz that opinion is a severly distorted one! get real people!!!!!

  • 25. Jan Vicon Cerbo  |  January 16th, 2010 at 12:44 pm

She’s too young… She usually eat only lettuce and drink coke as her meal to keep her thin…. I think… ANOREXIA is worst than ULCER.
