Detroit – International Supermodel Stacey McKenzie has been busy. In the last 18 months she has appeared on Canada’s Next Top Model, America’s Next Top Model, MTV’s Made, and The Tyra Banks Show. Now Stacey is crossing from television into cyberspace by lending her support as a beauty mentor to a new organization dedicated to helping women achieve more in
their lives called Thrive!
To say Ms. McKenzie understands the pressure that women face when it comes to self-acceptance would be an understatement. Ms. McKenzie has worked across every major market around the globe with some of the largest designers including Alexander McQueen, Betsey Johnson, Tommy Hilfiger, Todd Oldham, Michiko Koshino and of course Jean Paul Gaultier. She has graced the covers of Essence, Le Monde and Panache, and editorials in Vogue (US, Japan, Korean, British, Spanish), Harper’s Bazaar, Intervies, Flare, Fashion, and Vibe magazines.
“I started my company Walk This Way to help young men and women have the confidence to go after their dreams,” explains McKenzie. “It’s been hugely rewarding and now I’m thrilled to be a mentor for Thrive and helping women understand what true beauty really is!”
McKenzie is not your typical supermodel. Mostly known for her different and unique look she has faced the harshest critics and proved there is a place for women that don’t fit the mould. She agreed to get involved with Thrive when she learned about its goal of empowering women to act.
“What I think will really resonate with woman is the fact that they develop real friendships where they live. Not just with someone on their computer who lives in a different country,” laughs McKenzie. “There’s also something within us women that comes alive when we can make a positive difference. I think many women want this and they just don’t know where to begin. Thrive can be that start.”
