Supermodel Wasson launches own label

Wasson launches RVCA at Selfridges, London, the touted embodiment of the supermodel’s signature eclectic style and the label’s own roots in sports.
‘Another model designing clothing?’ I hear you cry but Erin’s vision has proved surprisingly accessible.
We spoke to her as she touched down in the capital ahead of today’s launch, where she will be on hand at 6pm to advise and style lucky shoppers.
What’s RVCA all about? RVCA is a California-based skate company. Pat, the guy who owns it – we crashed ideas against each other. He’s really creative and open to collaboration.
Are you drawing designs or just dragging stuff out of the closet and saying: ‘I want something that looks like that?’
It’s a combination. Seeing a great thing but knowing you want to interpret it differently, exploring shapes, textures and ideas. The design team at RVCA help me get the ideas out.
It’s about the perfect T-shirt, the perfect pair of cut-off denims, but adding a twist.
You’d look good in a sack. Will they look good on the average person? They are very simple and basic.
I’m not asking you to put on something you need instructions to get into.
Every piece will go into anyone’s wardrobe. Erin is wearing: floral dress, ?150; Hish short, ?185; Hard Nation blazer, ?200; Unknown Legend waistcoat, ?200; all by RVCA.

What a tremendous year 2009 has been. Hats off to the designers and models for the high volume greatness and grace. New York has seen some of the most celebrated models walk it’s runways. This year has been filled with beautiful faces and works of art. Makes me think of our interviews with the stars last year at this time. A particularly memorable interview was with New York’s sweetheart Jessica Goslin, friend of many models mentioned on this site. Her grace and ability to light up a room made her a staple in the New York’s fashion scene. Known to be a exceptionally down to earth, a uptown and downtown girl, the genuine excitement she brought to our city is unforgettable. I didn’t have a chance to catch up with the beauty this year. Last year, she flew from her new home on the beach in the Los Angeles, California area to hit the runways in New York and speak with us. The talented model and television show maker has been pursuing her television and film career full time. I spoke with her LA based publicist as to why Ms. Goslin didn’t come out to hit the runways this fall or winter, her publicists response was quote “Jessica absolutely adored the designs of the fall and winter, she can’t wait to see the magic in design that the spring collections hold. She’s very happy working in television and film in the LA area but will always love New York and will be back for more fun in the future.” Just like Jessica Goslin’s life takes on it’s own direction, so does the future of all the models that graced New York and the world. Embrace these girls business and life endeavors. They worked long and hard to get where they are, just like all of us, embrace change for a brighter future.
