Maple syrup, lemon juice and cayenne pepper: Naomi Campbell reveals the secret diet

naomi_campbell_narrowweb__300x488,2As she sashayed down the red carpet at the biggest showbiz event since the Oscars, Naomi Campbell‘s ageless beauty once again left jaws hitting the floor.
Nudging 40, the supermodel carries herself impeccably while bearing the looks and figure of a woman half her age.
How does she do it, observers asked themselves at the Metropolitan Museum Of Modern Art’s Costume Institute Gala in New York on Monday night.
Well, now we have the answer – it involves Maple syrup, cayenne pepper, lemon juice and a terrific amount of willpower.
Campbell revealed her secret in an emotional interview with Oprah Winfrey, during which she also cried as she discussed her temper.
She manages to maintain her slim shape by undergoing an incredible diet periodically, which involves eating just those three ingredients listed above in a cocktail – and nothing else.
The extreme diet is the same one used by singer Beyonce when she had to shed the pounds during the filming of movie Dreamgirls.
She told Oprah on the programme shown on Monday night: ‘I try to do this three times a year… The most I’ve ever done it for is 18 days. So I started on Sunday. This is the sixth day.’
Campbell also appeared in lyrca to demonstrate her workout regime. She added: ‘It’s good just to clean out your body once in a while.’
She also shared a beauty tip for would-be models, skipping. ‘The rope is great for your face, you lost a lot on your face when you do the rope,’ she said.
Campbell revealed that her self-denial received a big help in the form of Russian boyfriend of the last two years, Vladislav Doronin, whom she described as her ‘fitness guru’.
‘It there’s bread on the table, he’s like “Don’t eat bread”,’ she said, gazing at Doronin in the front row of the audience.
Of course, this is all very different from her tactics in the late Nineties when she told Playboy magazine that she ‘smoked but never dieted’.
However, Campbell lost some of the self-control she was talking about when the subject came up of her past outbursts.
Oprah didn’t hold back on the supermodel, at one point asking her: ‘Are you just a petulant diva?’
Campbell said her anger management issues only arose when her own trust was abused and stemmed from a sense of abandonment she felt as a child.
‘If I feel a mistrust… then all my cards go down,’ she said.
