Ruby Rose splits from supermodel Catherine McNeil

Ruby Rose’s engagement to supermodel Catherine McNeil is over, with the TV presenter informing her friends on Facebook this week the pair have split.
It is understood it was McNeil who ended the relationship, although yesterday reps for both women were refusing to discuss the split.
Distance is said to have contributed to the breakdown with McNeil, who is based in New York, not home enough to keep the love alive.
“They are and have long been tremendous friends,” a friend of the couple said yesterday, confirming the split.
“It’s sad they’ve broken up and both women are determined to remain close but the relationship wasn’t working.”
The two women have been friends for seven years after meeting when the talented catwalker and neophyte fashion designer both entered a teen magazine modelling competition.
But as Rose’s career moved into music and media, McNeil’s took off overseas, where her recent achievements include picking up the lucrative Givenchy business.
McNeil, in London this week, was for a time making headlines after appearing in public with scratches on her arms.
Reports at the time alleged that she may have been a victim of self-harm.
Sources close to McNeil’s prestigious Chic mode agency believe the agency is relieved the relationship with Rose is over.
“They thought the press she was getting with Rose was damaging her. They didn’t want her to be depicted as some sex-fiend lesbian,” one said.
Rose is unlikely to be far from McNeil’s mind however. She has a permanent reminder – the tattoo “RR” – on her ribcage.
