Karlie Kloss is one of the models of the hour. The full of life 19-year-old American is almost a catwalk veteran and is highly booked for magazine editorials and printed adverts. Making her way to earn Elle MacPherson’s title “the body”, she does haute couture, ready-to-wear and lingerie with the same playful lightness of youth and serious professional sense. But who is the vibrant girl under the sequins and the (Victoria’s Secret) Angel wings?
Caught brushing her teeth with her head wrapped in a towel, she could be any ordinary girl preparing to go to sleep. However, after being followed for the whole Paris Couture week, earlier this year, by Vogue magazine, this supermodel in shorts (Stella McCartney) and t-shirt (customised by American Apparel) has shown to be no ordinary woman.

Out of her hotel room, Karlie was shot at various fittings for shows, including at Karl Lagerfeld’s atelier before she walked like a glimpse of a beautiful blue sky for Chanel.

Only six years after being discovered at a charity fashion show as a 13-year-old teenager, this new fashion darling has made it to the top. She began working at 15 and then she entered a roller coaster of successes and accomplishments. That being the case, fame is part of her daily routine. “I can’t even go to the bathroom without someone calling me”, she told Vogue.
Among all the bling and glamorous lifestyle of modelling, Karlie is able to find a downside to her work: “You are physically up for scrutiny by everyone and you hear everyone’s opinion. You have to grow thick skin and that only comes with time and learning”. However, Karlie owns a great model figure she says to be the result of years of ballet, which she was invited to quite for being too tall for a dancer. Nowadays, she has a personal trainer to help her stay in shape.
She’s obviously a successfull good looking model, whose career grew up from a great love for fashion: “I’ve developed such an appreciation for this level of work. Seeing the collection before the rest of the world and helping to evoke the feeling, the emotion that the designer is trying to inspire. It’s not just about walking”. She’s right. It comes from the heart.
