Agyness Deyn’s acting career rockets!

After receiving excellent critics for her part in The Leisure Society, in London’s West End earlier this year, Agyness Deyn is moving from the stage to the big screen. The model was actually chosen to play the main female role in a film adaptation of the iconic Scottish novel Sunset Song, written by Louis Grassic Gibbon in 1932. Directed by Terence Davies, a British filmmaker, she will become the piece’s heroine Chris Guthrie alongside Peter Mullan, star of War Horse.

Agyness’ character is a resiliant woman, from the 19th century, that struggles to hold both her family and a floundering farm, in a poor rural community of the Scottish north-east. Guthrie’s constant battle in life conquered the model’s heart and made her look forward to start shooting: “When I read the script I fell completely in love with the character and the story, I’m so honoured and excited to be working with Terence, he’s such an incredible director. I can’t wait to get started and just hope that I can do Chris Guthrie justice!”
