Julian Zigerli – selected by Giorgio Armani himself
In January it is already for the second time that well-known fashion designer Giorgio Armani supports a young fashion talent. After Stella Jean was invited to the Armani Teatro in Milan in September to present her Spring/Summer 2014 collection, now Swiss Julian Zigerli can count himself lucky. A personal invitation of Armani is not something that happens every day and shows his great admiration for the newcomers. He recognised Zigerli by an article in an Italian high fashion magazine.
“I hope that my support is a good omen for Julian´s career” said Armani when publishing his choice for the coming show season.
But who exactly is the unknown?
Julian Zigerli studied at the University of Arts in Berlin, but returned to his place of birth, Switzerland, after his graduation in 2010. He decided to found his own menswear label which was step one on his career path. Besides presentations in cities such as New York, London, Berlin, Seoul, Florence and Zurich, among others, Julian was nominated for the Swiss Design Prize 2011 and won the Federal Design Prize Switzerland in 2012.
His style can be described as humorous-aesthetic technical prints which clash with sporty cuts. The target group is urban, modern, self-conscious men with liability to contemporary fashion.
Being selected by one of the best designers nowadays, is a big step ahead and will help the young Swiss to gain recognition among the world of fashion from next season on. For not disappointing the fashion week guest´s expectations at the Armani Teatro Showspace, Zigerli had to expand his menswear collection.
What we can expect from the designer´s Fall/Winter 2014/2015 creations is still secret.
