UNIQLO celebrates 30th anniversary of Tamagotchi with Exclusive Capsule
Japanese global apparel retailer UNIQLO has teamed up with Japanese toymaker Bandai for an exclusive capsule in celebration of the 30th anniversary of its Tamagotchi toy.
Released by Bandai in Japan in 1996 the simple egg-shaped handheld digital pet toy with an LCD screen and three intuitive buttons made it accessible worldwide, spreading across North America, Europe, and Asia. Three decades later, the nostalgia of the toy continues to resonate with long-time fans while continuing to charm new generations.
Uniqlo’s collection draws inspiration from the pixel art aesthetic of the Original Tamagotchi, capturing its nostalgic charm and simple yet expressive digital world. Capturing the fun, and nostalgic spirit of Y2K fashion, it comprises of 4 women’s T-shirts with playful designs that brings to life Tamagotchi’s adorable characters and graphics.
