The Wella Company names Calvin McDonald as CEO

German-founded Swiss-American innovative global beauty leader The Wella Company has announced the appointment of Calvin McDonald as its new CEO.

A growth-oriented leader with a proven track record of helping large organizations scale, innovate, and elevate customer engagement in stores and across digital channels, McDonald holds an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Western Ontario.

He most recently served as CEO of lululemon athletica inc. while prior to that as President and CEO of Sephora Americas (a division of the LVMH group of luxury brands), he built a strong foundation for innovation, positioning Sephora as an industry pioneer. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of The Walt Disney Company.

McDonald will step into his new role as The Wella Company’s CEO effective April 2, 2026 and will be based in New York. He will also be appointed to the company’s Board of Directors and will continue to receive strategic advice from Executive Chair Glenn Murphy.
