Versace Appoints Pieter Mulier as Chief Creative Officer

Italian Luxury Conglomerate Prada Group has announced the appointment of Belgian designer Pieter Mulier as Chief Creative Officer of Italian luxury fashion house Versace effective July 1st, 2026.

Following a successful turn at Alaia, where he was appointed in 2021 as the first creative director of the house since Azzedine Alaia’s death in 2017, he brings a distinguished background to Versace. Prior to Alaia, Mulier worked closely with Raf Simons at multiple houses, including as a key collaborator at Jil Sander, Dior, and Calvin Klein.

Throughout his career, Mulier has honed his ability to shape distinctive brand identities, contributing to minimalist, intellectually driven aesthetics and their success. He succeeds Dario Vitale, who exited the position in early December 2025 after presenting only one collection. Following Donatella Versace stepping away from day-to-day design responsibilities, Vitale had temporarily held the creative director role amidst efforts to reposition Versace for renewed growth and relevance under new ownership.

‘When we considered the Versace acquisition, we identified Pieter Mulier as the right person for the brand. We believe that he can truly unlock Versace’s full potential and that he will be able to engage in a fruitful dialogue with the brand’s strong legacy. We are excited to begin this journey together,’ Lorenzo Bertelli Versace Executive Chairman stated in a press release.

Mulier’s appointment marks the beginning of a new creative chapter for Versace following its acquisition by Prada Group in late 2025. Further, it reflects Prada Group’s strategic vision post-acquisition, aiming to restore Versace’s momentum in a competitive luxury market.

Reporting directly to Bertelli, Mulier’s first full collection for Versace is expected to debut during Milan Fashion Week in September 2026, showcasing Spring/Summer 2027 designs.
