Is Kate Upton Set To Star in the New Harry Potter Spin-Off ?

Supermodel Kate Upton is rumoured to be on the shortlist for a leading female role in the planned Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The J.K. Rowling written, David Yates-directed production is seeking out female leads and a batch of surprising names have emerged as potential candidates. For the role of someone named Tina, Warner Bros. and Yates are looking at Saoirse Ronan, Dakota Fanning, Lili Simmons, and Alison Sudol while for the role of Tina’s older sister Queenie, they are considering Kate Upton, Katherine Waterston, and Elizabeth Debicki.

Newly crowned Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne has signed on to be in pole position for the pivotal role of Newt Scamander. According to The Wrap, each actress is slated to test for their respective roles with Redmayne, with Upton and Dakota Fanning are among the top contenders. Vanity Fair has also speculated on the possibility of Upton landing the role.

Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them takes place in New York city roughly seven decades before the events of the first Harry Potter film. The story will follow Scamander, who will eventually write the textbook on magical creatures that Hogwarts students study from. It is intended to be a trilogy with Warner Bros releasing the film on November 18 2016.

Upton who is currently filming the romantic comedy “The Layover” in Vancouver, Canada seems capable to take on the role given her success with her role in the 2014 romantic comedy The Other Woman.
