Van Cleef & Arpels opens Heritage exhibition in Zurich

Parisian High Jewelry Maison Van Cleef & Arpels is hosting a major exhibition at its boutique in Zurich, Switzerland.
Titled ‘Welcome to Van Cleef & Arpels’ world’, it offers a beautiful journey through time into the unique heritage of the Maison, highlighting over a century of creativity. From it’s patrimonial Collection to technical innovations and iconic designs, the exhibition showcases emblematic creations that defines Van Cleef & Arpels’ universe.
Highlights of the items on display are:
– the Cadenas watch: an emblematic timepiece introduced in 1935 featuring a dial facing the inside of the wrist that allowed its wearer to peek at the time discreetly.
– the Minaudiere: a vanity case (patented in 1933) containing multiple compartments designed to hold a specific item: powder box, lipstick case, notebook, lighter, or comb.
– Dancer clips: unveiled in 1941, these clips were inspired by dance, gestures and poses. Featuring a diamond or gold face, a graceful silhouette, and refined attire set with a variety of gemstones, it places importance on capturing movement and its translation into jewelry.
– the Zip necklace: another iconic creation by Van Cleef & Arpels in 1950, the necklace can be transformed into a bracelet by sliding its tassel, just like a real zipper.
– the Alhambra long necklace: an icon of luck and emblem of the maison since its creation in 1968, it was inspired by the four-leaf clover, and combined 20 motifs in creased yellow gold, fringed with golden beads.
– the Mystery Set: patented in 1933, it is one of the Maison’s most emblematic expressions of savoir-faire wherein specially cut stones are inserted one by one into gold rails. The technique evolved to adorn complex three-dimensional designs such as the Everest necklace from 1981.
