The publishers of the new James Bond book, written by Sebastian Faulks, have unveiled the cover they hope can capture the spirit of Ian Fleming’s creation.
Like the work itself, the cover of Devil May Care aims to harness the elements which turned 007 into the world’s most celebrated spy while adding enough of a twist to keep modern audiences hooked.
The design, recalling at first glance a blooming, blood-red flower, features the naked silhouette of model and diplomat’s daughter Tuuli Shipster, 25.
Faulks was unveiled in July as the author selected by the trustees of Fleming’s estate to write the new novel to mark the centenary of the author’s birth.
Alex Clarke, Penguin editor of Devil May Care, said: “The cover had to be something stylish and sophisticated - all the things that one associates with Fleming’s James Bond.
“With such a great concept the challenge was then to find the perfect girl to bring it to life. We just knew the moment we saw her that Tuuli was our Bond girl.”The jacket image was created by award-winning design agency The Partners, who work with some of Britain’s oldest heritage brands including Jaguar, Wedgwood, Harrods, the BBC and The National Gallery.
Jack Renwick, The Partners’ Creative Director, said: “It’s an honour to become a small part of Bond’s rich visual history.
“Bond is sex, intrigue and violence. We wanted to capture this and give a subtle nod to the familiar, iconic Bond images of old.”
Faulks finished writing the book in six weeks, commenting that he was happy to follow the recognisable Bond style with exotic locations, glamorous women and larger-than-life villains.
Devil May Care is set in the Cold War and will be published on May 28 to mark the centenary of Fleming’s birth.

‘Fredrick’s of Hollywood’ supermodel and reality star Joanna Krupa talks to LA Direct about her upcoming TV show and her catty feud with Paris Hilton.
With all the attitude that Joanna Krupa and her younger sister Marta are spitting towards the Hilton sisters, we may be seeing a four-deep Hollywood cat fight going down in the near future.
“Paris tried to get me and my girlfriends kicked out of a club one night at a bar in Los Angeles about a year-and-a-half ago,” says Joanna. “We walked into the VIP section, and Paris walks in and starts screaming at us, ‘You don’t do that! Who do you think you are?’”
“Paris is crazy! What’s wrong with her? I’ve had no problem with Nikki Hilton,” says Marta, “but every time we would bump into Paris, she would always have a problem with us. I can still hear her screaming at us. She was jumping up and down like a little baby. She was almost crying. There were a lot of times that we bumped into her or Lindsey Lohan, and they are always so crabby.”
Joanna’s yet-to-be titled reality show should be hitting the airways soon, but in the meanwhile you can check her out in the December issue of LA Direct magazine.

Yesterday, Victoria’s Secret model Karolina Kurkova was spotted at trendy Beverly Hills eatery The Newsroom devouring a piece of carrot cake while having lunch with a girlfriend. Now that the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show has been taped, it seems the Czech babe feels a little freer to indulge herself.
Speaking of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, set your TIVOs for this Tuesday night (December 4) at 10pm (they make it later in the night so that the kiddies will be in bed already!)
It’ll only run for an hour, but what an hour it will be! For the second year in a row, CBS will be broadcasting the VS gig in High-Definition.
Besides dozens of babes in lingerie prancing down the runway, the VS Fashion Show broadcast will feature performances by Seal and the Spice Girls.
Jack Sussman, a CBS exec, may have said it best: “This is really an event that’s anchored in a fashion show.” Don’t miss it.

Is rock star-turned-arty photographer Bryan Adams, 48, having a super-secret, and super-steamy, romance with 44-year-old supermodel Elle “The Body” Macpherson?
According to the Daily Mail, the couple enjoyed a passionate kiss at a private party in Bryan’s London home on Tuesday night after the launch of his new photo exhibition.
A source said: “They were all over each other, flirting outrageously and they couldn’t keep their hands or eyes off each other.”
Elle, nicknamed “The Body”, and sexy Bryan make a fab couple but were trying to keep the relationship top secret - because it’s very early days and they’ve been pals for ages before romance blossomed.
Because of this the supermodel, 44, stayed away from Bryan’s big night on Tuesday.
After the exhibition Bryan threw a private Mexican-themed party at his Chelsea home, which Elle did attend. To avoid tongues wagging the pair didn’t display any affection in public.
They waited until Elle was leaving his house, at around midnight, to get all touchy-feely.
“They enjoyed a passionate snog at his front door when they thought nobody was looking”, the source added.
“Bryan and Elle tried to hide behind the door slightly but they were caught out.

Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr was left shattered at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show when PARIS HILTON “stole” her favourite outfit.
Kerr reveals Hilton showed up 10 minutes before the show opened at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on 15 November (07) and decided she wanted to close the catwalk show.
Organisers told her to pick an outfit and she chose a pink dress that Kerr had been allocated.
Upset Kerr says, “I was standing by my rack and she goes, ‘I want that dress,’ and she pointed to my dress, my pretty pink dress, the one I was really proud of… and she stole it.” In a post on her blog, Kerr admits she felt like hitting the heiress with her handbag, but she calmed down and let karma take care of her feelings - in the shape of Naomi Campbell, who was another late show for the event.
She explains, “Paris is about to walk out for the finale and Naomi walks in, so they rip the dress off Paris, she’s standing there naked and they put it on Naomi.
“I thought, that’s karma for you darling.”

Kate Moss finished shooting the latest ad campaign for Donna Karan’s 2008 spring/summer collection. She earlier signed a contract with the fashion brand, adding to her already existing contract with Yves Saint Laurent.
Though speculations have risen that she has lost millions of pound in contract deals, she still proves to be a top player in the modeling industry.
The campaign inspiration was taken from “Nueva York,” which also follows the theme of the campaign shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot.
Karan expressed her excitement on the new deal with the supermodel, saying “She’s wild and sexy and somebody who has the energy to hang out in the streets, to dance… A woman who would have lived in that rawness but with a polish at the same time.”
She adds, “The clothes don’t wear her, she wears the clothes.”

Supermodel HEIDI KLUM wowed passers-by
during a recent photo shoot for American clothingcompany Jordache - the beauty appeared topless on the balcony of a Sunset Boulevard hotel. The German beauty, who is married to singer Seal, was posing wearing nothing but a pair of jeans for the advertising campaign, which was shot by Rush Hour director Brett Ratner at the Chateau Marmont in May (07). She says, “I was standing there with my top off while cars were driving by and people were looking up every once in a while. It was kind of funny. “I hope no-one got a snapshot from down there.”

America’s Next Top Model’s Tyra Banks, along with other black beauties grace the cover of Ebony magazine’s September issue, which is out in the market today. Celebrating the influence of Blacks in the fashion world, the monthly magazine for the African American market features a 50-page spread that will pay homage to various fashion designers, stylists, models and fashion icons.
Banks, 33, has made a name for herself in the fashion industry with her extensive print and runway work for advertising giants such as Cover Girl, Victoria’s Secret, and Tommy Hilfiger just to name a few. Marked as the first African American woman on the covers of GQ and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, she has taken her modeling expertise onto the television circuit, with her highly rated competitive reality series America’s Next Top Model. She is also currently hosting her own daytime Emmy Award-nominated talk show, The Tyra Banks Show.
“A lot of the times the fashion world doesn’t give a lot of attention to American Black girls from urban areas,” Banks said. “I don’t mean to pat my own back, but America’s Next Top Model pulled down the curtain to this world that people thought they couldn’t be a part of. Now every girl is like, ‘I want to be a model.’ I feel like the world is more accessible, but by no means is it less prestigious.”
Apart from the host of America’s Next Top Model, Somali-American model Iman, 52, is also featured on the cover. Known for representing Yves St. Laurent, she is currently CEO of Iman Cosmetics, Skincare and Fragrances, a line she established to market a selection of products for women of color.
Kimora Lee Simmons, 32, and Alek Wek, 30, round up the September cover girls. Simmons is known as a retired model and the head of design for urban fashion line Baby Phat, while Wek is noted for representing high-profile designers on the runway, including Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, and John Galliano.

In an interview by a British journalist, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne blabbed out that their son Jack has slept with Paris Hilton.
Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne have revealed that their son Jack is one of many men to have slept with Paris Hilton. Osbourne was interviewed by British journalist Vic Newton.
Ozzy said: -Paris was always hanging around our house. I’m not sure if she was a friend of KELLY or AMY — which one was it, Sharon?-.
Sharon looked at him bit sheepish and ungainly replied: -She was Jack’s, erm, friend.-.
At that moment, Ozzy`s jaw dropped as he looked at his wife: - He didn’t shag her, did he? Well done, my son!-.
