Scandalous affair between two of fashion’s most powerful players

The rumour mill is spinning. Parisian gossip is claiming that two of fashion’s most powerful players, Le Figaro’s fashion editor, Virginie Mouzat and LVMH boss and Forbes fourth richest man in the world, Bernard Arnault, are having an affair.

Mr Arnault whose wife left him in December for a younger man, seems to have an eye on the stylish Ms Mouzat. She is one of France’s most prominent journalist and is well-known for her outspoken criticism of Tom Ford’s first womens wear show last year and called it “vulgar without any apparent irony….in the most literal way.” She is an experienced writer and has written two novels: Une Femme Sans Qualities and La Vie Adulte. She is also reputed to be “aloof and somewhat cold and she likes to smoke and drink.”

Mr Arnault has five children with his wife Helene, a Canadian concert pianist. The alleged affair would bring two of the fashion world’s major influences together as Mr Arnault was Forbes Fashion Person of 2011 and Ms Mouzat who is in the running to take over as editor of Vogue after Carine Roitfeld’s departure.
