“Scientology not reason for split!” as divorce war heats up
We are still not hearing much from Tom Cruise himself about the split but his powerhouse lawyer, Bert Fields, has had much to say about the matter. Speaking for Tom, he accused Katie Holmes of hogging the media and playing it to her own advantage.
Bert Fields spoke to BBC about the impending legal and custody issues between the A-list couple. And in what could only be deemed as an attack on Katie Holmes, he had this to say. “We are letting the other side play the media until they wear everyone out and then we’ll have something to say. Tactically we can’t say where Tom will file a divorce case and if he’ll be seeking joint custody of Suri.”
As far as Katie’s fear of Scientology having a negative effect on her six-year-old daughter, a source told TMZ that Katie was totally committed to Scientology and that, “This is not a fight over religion. It’s being used as a way to hurt him.”
It has come to light that Katie had been planning the divorce assault for several weeks with her father Martin Holmes. “Her inner circle has been planning this and switching out cell phones since she was in China in mid-June,” a source added. You know you’re in trouble when your in-law takes to plotting against you!
Meanwhile, Tom is making it “his first priority” to get a court order, albeit a temporary one that will allow him to see his daughter on a more regular basis.
Yes, the kid-gloves are off, folks and the term “nasty” comes to mind but then again this is a high-profile case involving a high-profile couple who have played to the media right from the beginning of their relationship and created the media circus around them. And the show will go on as they say in show business.
