Supermodel Kate Moss goes topless in France and flaunts her Lucian Freud tattoos

Supermodel Kate Moss decided to show off her tattoos during a holiday in Saint Tropez, France and went topless as well to accentuate them even more. The model was seen on a boat with her back to the camera dressed only in black bikini bottoms showing off two swallow shaped tattoos on her lower back.

Kate talked about her meeting with Lucian Freud during an interview in America and how he convinced her to let him draw two tiny swallows at the base of her spine. He said, “I can do you one. What would you like? Would you like creatures of the animal kingdom? He told her, “I’ve done birds. I’ve got it in my book.” She said, “No, I’m not having that.” So they decided on a flock of birds. She goes on to say, “I mean, it’s an original Freud. I wonder how much a collector would pay for that? A million? If it all goes horribly wrong I could get a skin graft and sell it! It’s probably the only one on skin that’s still around, because when he was in the navy he was about 19. Can you imagine?”

These are not the only tattoos that the Croydon-born supermodel flaunts on her supermodel body. It has been rumored that she has a heart-shaped tattoo on her left wrist, a small star tattoo on her ankle and a small anchor shaped one on her ankle. And something else has come to light. Kate also revealed that she did a sitting for Freud who painted a nude painting of her. The painting took nine months to complete and shows a naked Kate reclining back on a sofa. It was sold to an anonymous bidder at a Christie’s auction for 3,9 million pounds in 2005. But Kate did show a little remorse by saying, “But I wish I hadn’t posed like that.”

The supermodel seems to have a soft spot for the artist who died in July 2011 and told Vanity Fair magazine, “Lucian was always really kind. I adored him.”

Well, at least she has something to remember him by. Who knows, those two swallows could be worth a million someday if Kate has her way, that is.
