It was “Clash of the Titans” at The Face premiere
The much awaited show finally premiered on Tuesday and it was a show extravaganza. Rumour of a tiff between the three supermodel mentors, Naomi Campbell, Karolina Kurkova and Coco Rocha, have been floating around for quite some time and it came to a head at the premiere of the series on Tuesday.
Model and diva, Ms Campbell wasn’t about to be upstaged by anyone and showed her disgust when Karolina Kurkova decided to send one of Naomi’s contestant home. Oh, how she must have trembled before coming to that decision knowing the wrath that would be unleashed on her and true enough, Ms Campbell let her feelings be known in her own way. She spluttered, “That is not right. That’s not right. I have to leave. I’ll be back. I don’t want the camera.” Didn’t Arnold Schwarzenegger say that? Anyway, there’s more. Later she said, “Don’t even talk to me right now. Do not talk to me. Get out.” Then after thinking about it for awhile, Naomi decided that she needed to tone things down, afterall, it was only the premiere for god’s sake. So, she found Karolina and had this to say. “I’m very disappointed in your choice Karolina. And all I’m gonna tell you, it’s game on from now on.” Erm…….Ms Campbell sure knows how to stir things up AND to stage a show. Now, she is left with three contestants and “mother hen” Naomi will be one to contend with when it comes to losing another. Dare they even try?
Karolina Kurkova led the winning team after her model hopefuls created the best editorial storyboard which meant her “babies” were safe from elimination but Coco’s and Naomi’s teams were looking at losing a contestant and Karolina gave Aleksandra the walking pass.
The name of the game is to find the face of ULTA beauty. Earlier in the day, models Naomi and Karolina slipped into dramatic pantsuits to make them seem larger than life and believe it or not, they are. They preened and posed with host Nigel Barker in New York’s Time Square and had quite an audience.
The premiere aired on Oxygen network on Tuesday night with lots of drama and it was “gloves off” from the get-go. Who’s going to be left standing at the end of the show? Your guess is as good as ours.
