Rihanna to create her own fashion brand

Barbadian singer Rihanna recently expressed her intention of launching her own fashion label. “It’s not all down to my voice,” said the award-winning recording artist. The now 26 year-old beauty, whose birth name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty and began her music career in 2003, has previously collaborated for big name fashion brands in the past.

In 2011, Rihanna took on her role of clothing designer for Italian fashion house Giorgio Armani, specifically creating collections for its popular sub-labels Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans. Her latest designer gig was for London-based high-street brand River Island, which she co-designed with her long-time couturier Adam Selman just last year.

Nonetheless, Rihanna, who is currently the face of Parisian label Balmain, believes fashion has played a significant role in the success of her artistic career and spoke about her desire to take designing to the next level by having her very own brand. “There’s people with way more talent than I when it comes to singing; bigger voices. But people want to know who you are. Fashion is a clear indication, a way to express your attitude, your mood,” she said.
