Naomi Campbell turns 44

The newly turned forty-four year-old British supermodel Naomi Campbell catapulted to fame more than a couple of decades ago, but it seems her aging clock stopped in her twenties.

Considered to be the first high-profile mannequin of color, the five-foot-nine-inch fashion icon, whose birthday is today (May 22nd), is is living proof that age is merely a number. Looking as fabulous as ever, the hot-tempered South London-born beauty achieved global recognition as one of the original “Big Five” supermodels (alongside Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer and Linda Evangelista) who exploded onto the fashion scene in the nineteen-nineties.

Campbell, who currently coaches model hopefuls in the American, Australian and British adaptations of one of the most popular modeling-themed reality television franchises (The Face), recently made Britain’s richest models list, beaten only by her fellow countrywoman Kate Moss and German-born Claudia Schiffer, who ranked first and second, respectively.

Happy Birthday, Miss Campbell!
