Lionel Richie’s Daughter Sofia Scores A Modelling Contract
Could the fashion world be any less of famous little sisters becoming models? Joining the list of celebrity progenies the latest to take the fashion world by storm is Lionel Richie’s daughter Sofia Richie who has been signed by Select Model Management, the agency that manages the careers of Irina Shayk, Jessica Hart, Fei Fei Sun and Lais Ribeiro.
The 16 year old has modeled before having been featured in Flaunt magazine and Who What Wear, and was featured last year in the campaign for L.A.-based brand Mary Grace Swim. She also took to the runways of New York Fashion Week in September.
Sofia recently told Teen Vogue that her sister (Nicole Richie)is her partner in fashion crime. “Nicole is definitely my style icon, and she’s the best person to go shopping with.”
The teen seems to have her sight set on not just modeling but also launching a designer label of her own. “When I’m older, if I’m successful at everything, I want to come out with a clothing line.” she told Teen Vogue. However, her route to fame will be a controlled one due to her sister’s documented problems. She recently told ELLE: “My dad is more strict because of my sister. I feel like now he’s on the preventative side.”
Sofia Richie is one of the many in the new trend of sister duos and fashion progenies all vying for a spot to dominate the fashion world. She joins Immy Waterhouse (sister to Suki), Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid (sister to Gigi), Emma Ferrer (Audrey Hepburn’s grand-daughter), Hailey and Ireland Baldwin and Lottie Moss (sister to Kate).
