Its a known fact that Karlie Kloss is a big supporter of women in tech. And with her mission being ‘to learn how to code’ she wants all young women to learn software engineering.

The former Victoria’s Secret Angel has launched the ‘Kode with Karlie Scholarship’, a coding scholarship for young women in partnership with Flatiron School. The scholarship will give 20 girls ages 13-18 across the US free tuition to Flatiron Pre-College Academy’s Introduction to Software Engineering course. The two-week, full-time course, will explore concepts in back-end software engineering through Ruby-a powerful, yet accessible programming language used to power apps like Twitter.

“Code is only going to continue to play a major role in defining our future, I think it’s crucial that young women learn to code as early as possible to ensure that we as young women have a voice and a stake in what the world looks like.” Kloss said in the announcement video.

Kloss who herself completed the program back in 2014 will have a hand in picking the recipients and even hinted that they might see her in class. The Flatiron School has one of the most covetable programs for one of the fastest growing professions in the United States. Girls can apply by filling out Flatiron’s application form and sending a 30 to 90 second video telling Karlie why they want to learn how to code. Applications are due by May 1; the winner will be announced by the Flatiron School on May 10. Those who are eligible, though, can apply here.

A coding enthusiast herself with regular posts about ruby on her twitter and instagram account, Kloss also recently spoke at SXSW about the way technology affects the fashion industry. After her recent departure from Victoria’s Secret to pursue her education at New York University she has plenty of ambition and shows few signs of slowing down.
