Our Newsmaker this week is Lily-Rose Depp. The 16-year-old daughter of Vanessa Paradis and Johnny Depp just landed herself a modeling contract by becoming the face of Chanel Eyewear for the brand’s Fall/Winter 2015-2016 campaign.

The budding model was signed up by designer Karl Lagerfeld himself for the brands Pearl eyewear collection, and appears in a series of stunning portraits and a video ad, which were shot by Lagerfeld himself. “Lily-Rose is stunning, she’s a young girl from a new generation with all the qualities of a star,” said Lagerfeld in a statement.

Following her parents split in 2012 after 14 years together Lily-Rose spent most of heir time stateside where she attended prestigious private schools in LA. She is fluent in both English and French.

Lily who is already a favorite of Lagerfeld has been carving out her own path in the industry. In April, she made her fashion editorial debut in U.K. magazine Oyster. Just nine days ago she made her runway debut at the Chanel fall-winter 2015 Haute Couture show during Paris Couture Week where she stole the spotlight. Sporting a strapless black Chanel dress she emerged with fellow celebrity offspring Lily Collins looking the epitome of elegance appearing confident and comfortable on the catwalk as she hit the strategically placed roulette tables.

Besides modeling she has also starred alongside her famous father in Yoga Hosers (released in June this year), and recently appeared in the video for Irish rapper Rejjie Snow’s new track All Around The World. The beautiful blonde is also a songwriter and has a writing credit on one of the songs from her famous mothers’ 2014 album “Love songs” and the 2000 album Bliss on which she collaborated on 3 songs.

With 500,000 followers on Instagram she is superstar and often shares snaps of her famous family and glamorous life to her. Lily is a natural when it comes to camera and takes after her mother Paradis (often referred to as ‘one of Karl’s favorite girls’), who has been a longtime Chanel ambassador and is famously close with the fashion house’s creative director. As the most talked-about rising star in fashion right now it was only a matter of time before she was cast in a campaign for the brand.
