Newsmaker of the week : Xenia Deli
Our Newsmaker this week is SI Swimsuit model Xenia Deli, who’s profile is on the rise in North America thanks to increasing exposure.
Born October 27, 1989, Xenia graduated from the first course of the Moldovan State University (Faculty of Foreign Languages) and attended modeling school too. Dubbed ‘the most famous model in Hollywood’ the 26 year old would in all probability have become a translator had it not been for an opportunity that came her way when on a program for students. That opportunity was when she took part in a Beach Bunny contest and was one of the final three contestants with the brand inviting her to become the face of their advertising campaign.
Prior to her big break she took on small modeling jobs. Her marks in the modeling world began when well-known photographer Gavin O’Neill who has worked with magazines like Vogue, Vanity Fair, Cosmo, GQ and Maxim invited her to shoot. Xenia has appeared on the covers of South African FHM, South African Sports Illustrated and Spanish FHM. Known for modeling swimwear, she has shot for Bare Necessities, Frederick’s of Hollywood and Beach Bunny Swimwear. In 2012 she posed in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and also appeared in a photo shoot for Playboy, together with Bruno Mars.
Getting into Victoria’s Secret was also by accident for the Moldovian beauty. Xenia had participated in a Buffalo campaign who had happened to open a new store right opposite the office of Victoria’s Secret. When the brand saw a huge poster in the window with her picture they invited her for an interview which she clinched. Till date she has done four photo shoots for the lingerie giant.
Having worked for Victoria’s Secret Pink and Sport Illustrated South Africa she recently landed the plushiest gig of her career, playing Justin Bieber’s romantic interest in the “What Do You Mean” music video. Justin and Xenia were seen in public while holding hands, causing some speculation that the two of them were a new couple, but she is reportedly in a relationship with singer Ionel Istrati.
