Kendall Jenner has been tapped by Mango to star in its ‘Tribal Spirit’ campaign.

Lensed by David Sims, the 20-year-old models looks inspired by the African savanna ranging from a tribal print dress with a high slit, a black leather fringe minidress and palazzo trousers accompanied with cargo pants. The collection also includes fringe-finished sweaters, chunky jewelry, silk trousers, rope belts, and plenty of suede.

Speaking about the new campaign and working with David Sims Jenner had only positive things to say. ‘I am thrilled to have been chosen for the presentation of the ‘Tribal Spirit’ mini campaign,’ she said in a statement. ‘I love to wear these colors, styles and shapes. They really embody the attraction of nature, of which this collection has been inspired.’

While the campaign is a big win for Jenner who follows in the footsteps of Cara Delevingne, Kate Moss and Miranda Kerr, it actually stirred up a bit of controversy with cultural appropriation outcries across social media about a white model representing African heritage.

Tribal Spirit is the first of the four separate themes that make up the spring 2016 campaign, with the brand releasing a new mini-campaign spotlighting a new trend with a new model each month right up and till May of this year.
