Pirelli Announces Star-Studded Lineup for Its 2017 Calendar
Pirelli has announced its 2017 Calendar which is set to include an impressive lineup of Hollywood actresses: Uma Thurman, Nicole Kidman, Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong’o, Lea Seydoux, Robin Wright, Zhang Ziyi, Helen Mirren, Rooney Mara, Penelope Cruz, Julianne Moore, Charlotte Rampling, Alicia Vikander, Kate Winslet, and Jessica Chastain, as well as Moscow State University professor Anastacia Ignatova.
Lensed by renowned German fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh, the calendar will follow closely on the lines of last year’s dramatic change of direction of featuring a wider than usual range of women. It was lensed in five locations: Berlin, London, Los Angeles, New York, and France’s Le Touquet.
The calendar marks the third time for Lindbergh which he previously shot in 1996 and 2002. ‘For the calendar I shot in 2002, I photographed naked models and I thought it was really boring,’ he told WWD. ‘Talent is more important than nice body parts. The idea of beauty today is a bloody mess. It’s really awful, I hold my breath when I see the images and not because I took the pictures, but because it really happened. The idea of the calendar is to show what real beauty comes from and not what people impose on you to believe is beautiful.’
