Carolina Herrera has said that it would be an honor to dress the future First Lady-elect Melania Trump.

The Venezuelan-American famed fashion designer spoke about Trump before receiving an honor for 35 years of fashion from the Women’s Leadership Council at Lincoln Center, New York on Tuesday night. ‘Of course I will, as the first lady of this country I will. Of course,’ she said. ‘It is an honor to dress the first ladies of the country and it’s something to do for the United States. It’s not for myself. It’s for the public.’

Lately several well known designers including Sophie Theallet and Tom Ford have spoken out that they will not be dressing future first lady. Herrera who is well known for designing John F. Kennedy’s daughter Caroline’s wedding dress in 1986, has dressed former White House first ladies, from Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis to Michelle Obama.
