Tom Ford to Launch Men’s Underwear Line

Tom Ford

Tom Ford will be expanding into underwear in the very near future.

The American designer wants to push into the new segment through a license with the Italian manufacturing firm Albisetti International. Albisetti International is run by brothers Alessandro and Tommaso Bianchi. Their father Antonio formerly led the companies Albisetti and Ittierre, who produced collections for Galliano and Just Cavalli among others.

‘The creation of Tom Ford Men’s Underwear is a natural extension of our highly successful men’s collection and comes at a time when the Tom Ford brand has become firmly established worldwide as a leader in men’s fashion.’ said Ford in a statement to Womens Wear Daily. ‘Albisetti International is the perfect partner for this venture as their dedication to excellence and the highest quality product is impressive and their strong family work ethic makes them a perfect fit as our partners.’

Further details on the product range or the prices of the underwear collection by Ford are not yet known. However, the distribution of the line will be limited to Tom Ford stores, as well as tomford.com. In addition, it will also be available in selected department stores and online partners.

Earlier this year, Ford unveiled plans for a new line of luxury watches with Tom Kartsotis’ Bedrock Manufacturing Co. as well as the expansion of his existing range of dresses, beauty products, eyewear, jewelry and bags. He also named Charlotte Blechmann from Barney’s New York as new as chief marketing officer. Judging by the speed at which Ford is rolling with new categories, perhaps someday he would launch a women’s lingerie line?
