H&M announces new couture collaboration with Giambattista Valli

Swedish fashion chain H&M has announced its latest guest designer collaboration with Paris-based, Italian couturier Giambattista Valli.

Titled ‘H&M x Giambattista Valli’ the first drop of the haute couture collaboration was unveiled on the red carpet at the amfAR dinner in Cannes. Valli had attended the event with Kendall Jenner (who debuted a candy pink layered tulle dress), Chiara Ferragni, Chris Lee, Ross Lynch and H.E.R (who appeared in a white dress with layers and tulle), who were also dressed in various first pieces from the collection.

Valli’s new partnership with H&M is named ‘Project Love’ and consists of not just one exclusive capsule collection, but two: the pre-drop collection and the main collection. There are limited-edition (ball) dresses and accessories for women, as well as tailored pieces for men. All of the dresses have been given names such as The Dream Dress worn by H.E.R and The Neon Signature worn by Kendall Jenner.

‘I am excited about this collaboration,’ said the designer in a press release. ‘H&M gives me the opportunity to bring my vision of style and my celebration of beauty to a wider audience. The goal is to share my love for beauty and to be able to be a part of everyone’s ‘happy moments’, to help create love stories around the world.’

‘We are thrilled to collaborate with Giambattista Valli,’ said H&M creative advisor, Ann-Sofie Johansson. ‘He is the undisputed master of haute couture with a knack for the memorable silhouette.’

Prices of the collection vary between 19.99 euros and 699 euros. While the pre-drop collection is already sold out on the H&M website, the main collection will be launched on November 7 this year in a selection of boutiques.

H&M’s collaboration with Giambattista Valli follows on the recent string of tie-ups that H&M has had with a slew of designers such as Alexander Wang, Balmain, Erdem, and Moschino.
